Too difficult
Is it just me, or have the developers increased the difficulty of the game? Cuz when I was playing Dead Cells on my PS4 3 years ago, it was pretty easy on the 0 cell run, i've completed the game in 5 hours, but now on PC I am 12 hours and I can't finish the 0 BC run, just wtf. Standart enemies damage is 40% of my HP and theres not so many upgrades on levels, I can't kill Kings Guy cuz I have no damage, and he heas 20000000000000000 hp. I don't get it. And no more mutation that increases your HP by 50% :(

Any tips what's going on. Is am that bad

Dude just try 5BC, won't remember 0BC difficulty for eternity XD

Dead Inside mutation is still there, tho it sucks hard now.

Nah he is right, the game has become insanely hard.
This artificial insane difficulty is what killed games like Spelunky 2, the first one was already REALLY difficult, the second one is completely insane.
This game is taking a similar path, I am stuck on 4bc and no interest in playing anymore. I will get the DLC and hope it has some fresh interesting content that is not behind the classic "beat this super hard objective to unlock new stuff you payed for".

The best way to test it is to revert to an early version and do the comparison yourself.
Revert to 0.7 and see if that is harder.

...honestly, I was under the impression it's gradually gotten easier over successive updates? The economy and scrolls updates put much higher focuses on adaptive playstyle rather than pure RNG and there's a lot more routes, items, and upgrades that can make life substantially easier? Hand of the King... still ends a lot of my runs though, so that pain is completely valid.

I am honestly not quite sure what you're doing wrong. Maybe on 5 BC enemies do 40% in one hit, but thats only the heavy hitters. 0 BC you can get hit quite a bit before needing to heal..so uh. What is your default reaction to getting hit ? If its dodging and then going away to reposition it would explain alot. Most of the damage you take can actually be regained for a few seconds, so just dodge to not get hit instantly again (trough the enemy) and hit it from behind, if it is already dead and you still got some of the orange part of your health left try attacking an enemy nearby if there is one and you feel confident doing so.

Plus for any enemy or boss you can go in the training room and train against them, i would advice to not reroll weapons until you get a really good one, but rather take something you're somewhat comfy with that's maybe mid tier for you and try beating the boss a few times, if you can beat it with a weapon that's just alright for you you'll beat it in a real run. Oh plus, never mix and match scroll upgrades, stick to one type of color for a build, depending on what Color you wanna play pick that color every opportunity you get, otherwise if you get the two other colors you generally wanna pick the one that gives you the most hp.

Otherwise you shouldn't stress yourself too much, there are generally 3 big hurdles to overcome in this game, your first 0 BC run, 2 BC and 4 BC, they will most likely take the majority of your time, just keep trying to improve and maybe watch some Youtube videos for help, you got this :)

As somebody who's been playing since The Brutal Update (November 2017), yeah, this has definitely been the case. Back in those days, it took me around 50 hours to finally beat the game on 0BC. And this was pre-HotK, where the Time Keeper was the final boss. Whereas in the past couple of years, I've heard of many people getting their first win in under 10 hours, with the most extreme cases being some that beat 0BC on their first run.

The Dead Cells of today is the easiest it has ever been, in my eyes. That includes 5BC as well; that mode is a far cry from what it used to be in 1.2 - 1.4.
There is a night and day difference between the game what was 3 years ago and now.
The developers has nerfed everything repeatedly many times.

I feel like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for saying this but the game is not THAT hard. I think the game is maybe even a bit more forgiving than before. I have played the game since 2018 (my older account got hacked and I lost is, just recently bought it again on this account), and maybe that's why I kinda feel like that.

The game is still hard, my W/L ratio is still pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ but I feel like with enough practice and knowledge of what items/mutations are good you should be fine

I'm on 4BC, the game is pretty much unplayable now. It's definitely too hard.
Really, I understand all of you who have time to play 4+ hours a day and want a challange, but I think the great majority of people want an enjoyable and beatable game more than yet another super-hard roguelike platformer.

BC are quite literally made for people who want a super hard roguelike platformer, there are also many people in the community who actually request 6BC because they want a more challenging expirience. If 4 BC is too hard for you, just go down in difficulty. You already beat the game when you won a run on 0 BC, everything after that is intended for people who want a harder challenge. Plus you don't have to play 4 hours a day just to beat higher BC level, i own this game maybe 2 years now and just now have 100 hours, a couple of days ago i managed to win my first 4 BC run and am now trying to win 5 BC and having fun doing so. Turning down the BC level when things get too hard is completely okay, i did the same today for the dlc.

Totally agree on the Spelunky 2 point, devs clearly listened to the weirdos who think doing hell runs in Spelunky 1 isn't incredibly tedious and not fun

Dead cells at least has modding to put a bandaid on whatever you think is a questionable dev choice

if you hate playing on 4bc because it's too hard just stop playing on 4bc...
