Merchandise passive was there, if you already had it unlocked then you'd naturally only find an Amethyst there, on earlier secret areas a Malachite.

I could see using 2 melee weapons if you're going primary Brutality and get 2 melee weapons with Brutality/Tactics/Survival and no shields or ranged weapons with any +stats.

But for a Survival build I'd almost always want a shield in one slot.

For those who do not know - they Architects key is hidden in a wall as a secret. I always found it in the zone that is opened after you unlock other door in Graveyard. There's an upgrade that, once unocked, allows you to select which type of items will the vendor have - for weapon vendor you can select shields, ranged or melee weapons (or random, as usual), and for trinkets vendor you can select between traps, grenades or boosts (or, again, random).

See here the Architect's key where I found it, before and after breaking the wall. It was in the locked away underground part, in an area requiring spider rune with an item at the top.
