But when setting this controller up for other software, I have used directinput mapping to get it mostly functional. So perhaps you can find some software that will allow you to map with directinput?
And i am on the Sony side of things. You don't get any extra benefits from using a DualSense.
Plus you get 3 months free of GamePass when you get one too. All you need is a cheap BT 2.0 Dongle and a X1S Controller. Looks great, smooth, white, perfect for PC gaming.
Battery Life is insane on those, 40-50 hours. And you can use rechargable batteries too.
To open Services, click the search box near the Start button, and type "services." Then, click or tap the search result with the same name.
Once it's opened, click on any item in the list, and then strice the keys "S" and "C", in quick succession (as though you were going to write "SCP". The service called "SCP DSx Service" will be highlighter, righ-click on it, and choose "start" (not sure if that's the right word; my Windows is in Spanish and it says "Iniciar"). When you finish playing, repeat but now chosse the menu option "stop" (again, in Spanish it says "Detener").
Go to Steam - Settings - Controller and change the Desktop configuration to the one you want to play with.
Apparently the issue was the steam overlay crashing with this game and steam defaulting to the Desktop configuration for the controller. (By default no buttons are assigned)
I am playing with a PS5 controller. I use it wired with USB cable.
I use it for all PC gaming.
However, I not using it plug and play but instead emulating as an XBOX controller with DS4Windows.
*Use the built in HidHide configuration client to hide the Sony controller from Windows.
XBOX emulation is by far the best way for compatibility with all games unless you actually using an XBOX controller.
btw, I still turn on Steam XBOX controller support, just like you do with an actual XBOX controller.
Furthermore, I am aware Steam has Playstation controller support but it doesn't work well with some games. Again, XBOX emulation is king for compatibility.
One compatibility example would be Forza 7 on Windows store, without XBOX emulation, it will see the PS5 controller as generic.
Lastly, I realize this thread not for Windows 11 but my post might still help somebody.
