Tips for 2BC
So I haven't played in quite awhile and there's a lot I don't remember. I was only able to get my first two successes because of explosive crossbow survival build. I know I should stick to one stat but apart from that I am not sure how to get a good build. I have been focusing on survival bc I want to win but man the lack of fountains is kinda absurd how difficult this is. It's what made me give up in the first place. What are good properties to have on weapons? Good mutations for each play style? Weapons that are particularly friendly to use for trying to just clear the cells for the first time?

Optimal routes?

Stuff like that I used to know but can't really remember.

Edit: Also the sort of stuff I should be spending cells on first would be very helpful!

You need only one thing - your forge fully upgraded then you can steamroll to BC5, where the real hell begins.

So explain why? I forget isnt the forge only accessible after like the fourth area or something like that? Ngl I am having a lot of trouble even getting there lol

Indeed it is accessible only after the first boss, so don't waste your souls on unlocking blueprints (just slam the door) and bring all those juicy cells to the forge, on BC2 it'll be a hefty amount.
Getting there is not too hard, go Arboretum (lots of cells there) -> Prison Depths (you can skip the curse) -> Ossuary and beat Concierge, he's easiest boss in the game. If you still have trouble beating him go to 0BC and get sheety build like 5-5-5, so you won't deal damage to him and try to kill him this way so that you can learn his patterns and behavior more.
I suggest using traps on him:

So why all the hassle? 100% of the items in your game will become ++ items and 25% of them - S, which is a max quality. It will power up your runs SIGNIFICANTLY, trust me.
So TL;DR: INVEST IN THE FORGE!

Can you suggest basic mutations and items for each style? Like what are good mutations for survival for instance

Optimal routes, just get to the 2.5 biomes. That's an extra scroll. You don't need anything else. All the routes work well enough and the scroll difference is minimal. Cavern is hard but the Items are wonderful there.

The rest depends on how used you are to each biome. For example, I usually don't feel comfortable in Slumbering sanctuary but I do a lot better in Forgotten Sepulcher than in Clock Tower. If you want to beat 2BC go wherever you feel the best. If you're not used to the darkness or poison your best bet is the classic
Quarters->Promenade->Depths->Ossuary->Village->Tower->Castle.
