Before Android and iOS, a lot of phones ran on java-based operating system, some pc games around their launch had java version of these game released. Good example is Prince of Persia 2: Warrior Within - it is 2D metroidvania, swordfighting, wallrunning, pit-avoiding game.
One of the reasons I bought DC is nostalgia trap.
Also, Gameloft (PoP2 dev) and Motion Twins are both based in France. Coincidence? I think not. Motion Twins = ex-GL devs confirmed. I'll go now...
But are we talking about Prince of Persia 2 - Warrior Within, or Prince of Persia 2 - The Shadow and The Flame? :)
What really triggered me was the animation of DC's character exiting the biomes, it's so much like the original PoP, the door and the stairs exiting, seen in the video at 3:50. Ah, well....

Nice you noticed the small details!

Ahhh, great to know :D Yeah, the first PoP was basically the only game I played at the time, so it does make sense that DC is now basically the only game I play. Thanks for the heads up!
