Grenade is 11/10
It's the best item in the game, out of any weapon or skill by far, and here's why: The cooldown is such that even if you whiff you'll have it available again after jumping around for a bit and the CC along with the raw damage just nukes down piles of enemies indiscriminately. It doesn't even need to be a high level grenade becauase once you upgrade your skills the damage skyrockets and the cooldown becomes negligible.

My last run consisted of a level 2 grenade & a level 7 grenade and it was the easiest, breeziest run I've had so far. It literally didn't matter what weapons I had, I just poured everything into hp and skills. I had 11 in skills by the Watcher fight. The poor bastard never stood a chance. My level 2 grenade was doing 3400+ dmg with almost no cooldown, it was disgusting.

The best thing about the grenade is its versatility, it literally handles EVERY situation. Most weapons and skills have some kind of fatal flaw, the grenade excels in any circumstance so there's never any reason not to take it. I've come to the realization that unlocking the blueprints that I've found would hinder my game because it makes the grenade harder to find. I didn't mean to bring this up, but there should probably be some incentive to unlock the blueprints you find.

Now I'm NOT saying nerf the grenade. From a balance standpoint I believe fun factor is a good metric for telling how balanced something is to use, or to play against. The grenade is hella fun to use while the other skills feel gimmicky by comparison. So maybe nerf the grenade? Or buff the enemies? Or buff the other items? All 3? What's your opinion?

my issue with grenades is the diversity behind a simple skill.

you can not use it like the magnet, it got no CC, it is just a simple/single burst every x second.

i like to have a grenade with me, paired with some other skill, to get some range.


bear traps, after they have gotten reworked, are my most fav skill for melee builds: bonus dmg + cc = easy mode for any boss

Yeah? Well it probably will get nerfed since devs nerf the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything that is great in this game.
If it has to be nerfed I would suggest making it a single target skill. Whenever I try taking out a pack of fliers that spawn from the zombies in the graveyard only 2 ever die even though there are more in the blast radius, so I think there's already a cap. Reducing it to 1 might be the perfect solution. Also the cluster bomb is freakishly close to the grenade in its utility and not a bad substitute.
The main problem with the base grenade now is it's cooldown. You can get it so disgustingly low it basiclly becomes a normal weapon.

Plus it has zero wind up animation. You can launch it without any fear of being interrupted like almost every actual weapon
Grenades knock enemies into the air which interrupts their combos

2x +100% against burning grenade, Firebrand, and Shield is a really good setup

You can also try to get the +175% against frozen grenades, but wind up is slower / riskier

Personally I prefer fire grenade and oil grenade combo as that pair is disgusting for how easy it makes most of the game.

But the basic grenade is actually really useful. Very little recharge time, good damage and can interrupt certain enemies attacks.
Say that to my fight against the two elites of the sepulchre: 7 skills, fire grenade 5 and death orb two, i've obliterated the first elite, the second one died by fire.

Skills are very good if you max skills, but it's a bit slower because of the cd. Unless you have a grenade, then it's as fast as a weapon run.
