What have they done with vampirism?
Now it turns all your health and some of your missing health into "recoverable health"
How do you even use this thing now? Or is it just an auto-recycle?

It's a net loss with more than 40% hp, that is if it doesn't get you killed outright

Same with the Tonic, I have no idea how it works and it isn't explained well enough anywhere. What is the blue health bar you get?

From my understanding it just gives you a shield as opposed to healing you

Yeah, the tonic's decent, from what I understand - it just comes down to activating it at an opportune time. But vampirism's pretty bad...

That said, survival was nerfed into the ground, so I won't be using them anyway. LOL.

I'm still using Survival because I really like the parry mechanics, but Vampirism remains a trash skill. It was trash before, and without attribute bonuses it's even more trash than ever!

I know the devs are trying but it feels like they're so afraid of making the game 'too easy' that they're missing the big picture. At this rate, you might as well just play custom and remove Vampirism and the other trash skills entirely.

I dunno, it really doesn't feel like the devs play the game much themselves? A lot of the rarely-used skills get tweaked but they remain just as useless as before or moreso. Recovery skills should legitimately recover because the only people who are going to use them are people who need to recover. Making them "only used by experts who rarely ever get hit" not only makes the skill useless to less skilled players who won't be rewarded, but it also makes it useless to expert players who never need to use it in the first place!

I think I found the way.

Against boss vampirism is pretty bad, but with tonic I face tanked mobs all game and just refill my healrth using vamp + tonic.

Use vamp to go to 0% hp, use tonic to get 100% shield and remove malaise damage. Easy run.

Tonic is the best item right now, turns malaise off if you get enough cool down reduction.

Also necromancy is a buff to tonic, staying at 50% hp with tonic let you face tank all game minions.

Also, I had 55% damage reduction which is a lot, and 33k hp. 15% amulet, 10% tonic, 10% vampirism, 20% tonic skill.

So no, survival is op as hell right now.

Not really seeing how using vampirism to reduce your health to 1% and then leeching to 40% is doing anything for you there, could've made use of your full health bar to tank all the hits and then used the tonic to tank some more.

Yeah... with a fight like that, I'm really not convinced it's been improved at all. 100% HP -> 0% -> 43%, with the only benefit being that you can facetank a bit. And I get the feeling that is largely from the shield tonic gives. 3 sips for the Hand means a rough 'lab on 5BC, too (in my opinion, anyway).

Maybe vampirism is useful in coordination with disengagement and Recovery, but I havn't tested this theory out.

Because it was a boss fight, It healed me to 100% all game. This was on 4 Boss cells. In boss fight is me because damage is capped to 15% of boss, in the rest of the game (Which is 90%) it's good.

You, uh, probably should've shown footage of that, instead. Haha.

Yeah.... like that guy above me said.
BVrutally Odd Jul 3, 2020 @ 9:44pm
So far Vampirism feels like a crude version of the Alienation + Acceptance mutation combo, without the malaise heal and not colorless and also has a timer for the healing potential.

gotta have to excessively test it in both brutality and survival.

Yah, because the Vampirism was so strong that I recorded it, sadly was on the end of the run AND my combo didn't worked, in normal gameplay each hit gave me -3 cd reduction, so I could constantly spam tonic and vampirism

Interesting! What mutations were you using?
