Buy it or you won't be cool
It definitely has a dark souls feel where you can cheaply get rocked by some BS that you didn't expect, but once you learn all the enemy patterns, you'll start feeling safe as you blow through them rarely taking damage. The best aspect of it imo is the classic metroidvania exploration. I've played plenty of other "metroidvania" tagged games, but almost none of them have nailed it as much as this game. Instead of loading up Castlevania SotN on an emulator, I'd happy just play another round of Dead Cells.
Dead Cells also has issues but it's a fun game. More than anything I really like the visuals of it. The level details are very well done and there is some fun skills and weapons to use.
It's not for everyone though. And I can see how it could get boring. Also the game is not complete yet either so there is that.
Dead Cells has platforming elements as well. The only real diffrence with dead cells and 20xx is that 20xx focuses more on dodging bullets and shooting guns while dead cells focuses more on melee weapons and rolling. The games are actually really similar in the core concept. You can use the level to avoid attacks and you need to jump over spikes and stuff. That is a platformer element. It's just that 20xx has more of it.
