Who's a good boi? - Achievement

how are you supposed to get this one?

thought you just had to finish the game without triggering the boio explosion at first. tried to pass the altar with a summoned shroom boi without sacrificing him after that and then finishing the run, didnt do anything either. i was doing this stuff in custom mode to simply start out with a shroomi right away, perhaps the custom mode doesnt count?

If you chose the boi as starting equipment, notice the lock to the side. That means you've locked achievements.

If, instead, you do NOT do that, but limit your items (keeping 20+ items in the pool), you should get it.

oh duh, reentering the custom mode from main menu after having previously chosen some starting skills even display some flashy message about achievements being disabled. weell good to know ~

what about the achievements itself tho, just gotta pick up a shroomi along the way, pass the altar and finish the run i guess?

I don't think you need to pass the altar at all, so long as you aren't ... blowing the boi up.

You have to finish the game (i.e. see the credits roll) without sacrificing Mushroom Boi. You don't have to pass the altar; you could pick other routes if you want.

If you're afraid of accidentally blowing him up in any level, just buy the boi before you fight the Hand of the King. You don't have to carry him all the way from the start. You can set the run so that only the boi appears for miscellaneous skills to make sure you'll see him in shops, too.

I've finished HotK and went through the fountain but still no achievement. So do I have to do it on BC5 and beat the final boss?

nah, i simply did it on a run without any cells. something else must ve gone wrong

Probably it didn't count as "finishing the game" since you skipped the final level?

Yeah, just do it on lower difficulties.

Make sure you aren't using mods. If you're using custom mode, make sure you haven't locked your achievements. Any BC will work, far as I know.

I always have all options with the padlock unchecked on my custom runs and I did this for sunsies on 0 BC. Gonna try on 1 BC but I'm not sure how arceus03 thinks I can play the final level if I am < 5 BC.

Ah, my bad. I thought you said you were on 5 BC and just ended the game after HoTK without going to the Astrolab.

You only need to beat the Hand. That's the typical "finish the game" flag the game expects.

If you finished the game without the achievement popping, either you "sacrificed" it by blowing it up, you're using mods/custom, or the game glitched on you. I'm not sitting in your home watching you, so I can't say any more.

Edit to add: I believe the fountain is blocked on 5BC, so you can't restart after Hand - I'm not sure if the fountain exit makes these finish achievements pop or whatever. I haven't bothered to try and unlock this on 5BC - and can't now, anyway, since I've already unlocked it.

I've done a new custom run with the standard shield and without sacrificing Mushroom Boi in my 1 BC fight with HotK and I got the 'nothing wrong with that' achievement for using the standard weapons when I went trough the fountain. I did not get the Mushroom achievement so I'm gonna try another run, this time not custom.

So, I started a new run (not custom) on 2BC with the Mushroom Boi who I did not sacrifice in the fight with HotK but when it was killed and I passed trough the founded, I ended up in Prisoners' Quarters with no achievement.

Did you ever sacrifice it any time before the fight, in any of the biomes? If not, then it sounds like a bug.
