No Checkpoints?
I read this somewhere, is it true? So if you die and/or lose all your lives you are back at the beginning of the game? If so I'm out. I wouldn't even like this if the game was seen as easy much less if it is difficult.

So the way this game works is you learn as you go. You will die and start over numerous times, but each time you get better and learn the enemy types and what they do. The game would be WAY to easy if there was checkpoints. The game is meant to make you learn from your previous run. But each time you start over, its a new map (procedurally generated) Trust me, this game doesnt need a checkpoint system for the amount of fun it is to play and start over and keep going. It is very satisfying enough that starting over isnt much of an issue

I went from dying with in the first few minutes to beating the first act boss over the course of about 20 or so runs. Died in the second act and started back at the first act but i barely ever lost and HP because i got so much better just over the short amount of time. so im at the point where i can just speed run thru killing everything. trust me if you like rougelike games(even if you dont) i highly HIGHLY recommend this game. Definitlly worth it ESPECIALLY since it is on sale as well

but... but that's what makes the game good

I still dont think it's for me, I dont even like games that DO have checkpoints and you die over and over again. I'll be the first to admit I have very little patience with games. It just looks so addicting though i wish there was a playable demo.

Yeah its kind of the point of the game. you get good and get better items early in order to help you going further in the levels, as well as some more conveniences

its not exactly like a metroidvania, its really a rogue like
There is persistent progression, but yeah death means starting a new run.

Persistent progression on one side but loose everything else on death. That is what rogue-likes are about . Not everyone's thing, but that is the point , not for everyone !

There are no checkpoints but it takes around 30-40 min to finish a single run once you get good at it.

You can pause between levels and exit the game, then continue later.

Since the game is a Rogue-lite the whole point is that if you die you have to start over, but you get to keep some progress such as unlocks and upgrades.

K, bye.

And also wherever you quit, the game loads you in the same spot you exited into the menu

Well, what do you expect from the rouge-like genre?
BronzyIsland Aug 7, 2018 @ 10:36am
you can beat the entire game start to finish in an hour. very very short.

There are similarities, like perma-death, RNG heavy mechanics, randomized floor/ennemies, etc. But the gameplay is more like a Castlevania.

Plus everything you unlock and the forge upgrades you do stays forever. Or until you make an empty save, that is.
