Why the F did I randomly die at Forgotten Sepulcher?
Sorry for my language but I'm quite upset about just somehow dying in Forgotten Sepulcher without knowing why.

I'm feeling cheated on my run as I had a really awesome Legendary Whip, Assassin's Dagger + Freezing Bomb brutality build, chose the ancient sewers for the first time, had an awesome time, loved the Slumbering Village SO MUCH and then the game just lets me die without any reason I would know?! Wtf!? The game just completely and abruptedly killed my experience! :'(

Well did you listen to the Lady at the start of the level? You need to be around light, if you are in dark places (unlit by Golden Lights or Dark Blue lights) you eventually start taking damage. There is a indication with the vingette around the screen as it gets foggier/darker as a warning.

I mean, yeah, I knew that there was a light problem but I really didn't see her telling me that it would make me take damage... So that was the reason for my health goind down that rapidly. I thought it was a visual thing, like, at some point you don't see a lot anymore and therefore have trouble fighting. When I died, I stood in the middle of a three story room with nine little soldiers and was busy, no light in the same area. I realized my view was beginning worse and focused on that, so that I was already dead when I saw my HP were going down as well because it was going down so fast already. :(

Best tip is to regularly hit up lights, especially if you haven't in a little while. Dark Blue lights will eventually snuff out so remember that. Keep the light sources in mind while you delve deeper into level.

That is some helpful advice, didn't know about the Dark Blue Lights fading as well. Now it makes sense why that mobile Light Turret I bought before takes so long to recharge, because you need it to survive and you can use it multiple times. Thank you for clarifying everything. Now, would you think it was a failure of the game design that I didn't get behind that concept or was it just my euphoria of that awesome Slumbering Village level that made me kinda numb towards learning a new concept?

Also be really careful when using deployable items. I just totally screwed myself there because my traps broke all the lights .____.

I don't personally like the light-mechanic but it's pretty easy to navigate around if you know what you are getting into. The light is a decent life-saviour if you aren't comfortable with the mechanic just yet. It always sucks to lose a good run. I would prefer if there was a visible meeter or something instead because the change is kinda hard to notice your first time around.

After a few runs through the area it's very trivial, just keep at it and you will get the hang of it. Momentum is everything, sometimes is best to skip a few enemies and rally back if you are running out of light.

Oh thanks for that, I had a trap but luckily didn't use it all that much

I just made it the second time I got into the area, it was actually not very hard at all. Besides a few moments where it was close getting to a light early enough, I got through it pretty well. The run before really only was a lack of knowledge...

In my latest run I also got to the Hand of the King the first time :) I lost it at about half of his health and idk... I don't enjoy bosses in Dead Cells all that much. Besides the Eye which had some clear patterns which became faster the bosses seem like lots of particle mess and the rest is up to how much health you got or how much damage you deal.

...or whether you got some good freezers or not :p

Bosses in Dead Cells is my least favorite aspect of the game, they just feel like a slog to get through, they aren't necessarily hard but just a big walking HP bar you have to wittle down.
