When i first started obviously i thought screw that not worth it.
Now after finishing a 4 cell run, its not that big a deal as long as i dont have a boss fight coming up.
In earlier difficulties, they are useless, because of how the scaling works. You lose too much defense when stacking scrolls.
But I find them extremely usefull in 3 and 4-cell difficulties, where you will die in a few hits anyway, and where you seek damage over anything else.
Not to mention you can use them to get a full heal with Alienation.
To beat the game first time round you really don't need them though.
...Oh and some starter tip , for those whos struggling with curses: There are certain medals what makes you invisible while you not attacking. Attacking with the Homunculus rune is not considered as action , so you can keep staying invisible while you killing your enemies. It's good when you dealing curses. 100% kills 0% risk taken.
I mean that while it's fairly easy to find 10 easy to kill enemies in most levels, you should really be careful and not use ground slams at all if possible, because it's so easy to go into spikes or into a fairly compact group of enemies that can definitely get a lucky hit in every now and then before you can get away to safety (or throw a grenade to kill them all quick).
With the shoddy hidden scaling mechanics making the boss more powerful for no benefit you'll probably find more Scrolls than you need.
And the item is most likely trash.
Plus I always seem to end up doing something stupid and getting hit in situations I normally wouldn't...
By then your future runs should only rely on Cursed Chests if you are confident in your skills in avoiding hits.
And keep one status as focus and balance the other two at all costs.
I was 1 off in the clock tower and was getting cocky... A stray bomblet from a bombadeer got me :/
The main difference is that at low stats it's a boxing match where both sides can take a beating while at high specialized stats it's a fight between glass canons on both sides.
I see many people saying "but boss hard cap your damage per hit against them", which is true, but when you do reach that cap it removes a noticeable portion of their health pool, meaning that the fight ends much faster and you have a lot less atacks to avoid.
It's definitely better for newer players to go for boxing matches though, because it takes a lot of pressure off and it's easier to learn how to dodge and parry when you don't get killed by a single mistake (same reason why new players should stay away from cursed chests in the first place).
