Are spartan sandals any good?
So far I've found them completely unreliable. Okay, interrupting attacks is nice in theory, but you can count on it only if there are no other enemies attacking from a few feet away. Am I missing something? Are they better in combination with any specific items?

EDIT: Okay, I just got a pair of legendaries that did around 800DPS and were somewhat viable. But the question remains: why would a pair of shoes shoes take up a weapon slot?

They can be ok if you knock them into the wall for that critical damage. I'd say I'd prefer a shield because parry comes out quicker. I suppose the trade off is a spartan sandal would do more damage.

No, they are a trash unlock.

I, like many people from EA, are unfortunately plagued with a large number of items that I unlocked to see what they were like, before very quickly realising they suck so badly you're probably better off unarmed than trying to use them.

So far frost blast has worked even better than any shield for me. But I guess it depends on your style of play. Plus, you don't always get one.

They're not especially good; they're really situational. If you can kick the enemy off of a platform or into a wall, they do pretty well. But without that extra damge, they're really just low damage and slow.

Edit to add: shields can really shine against certain enemies and bosses. Lots of people avoid them, but they've definitely got their place.

They can be decent but their special trigger is way to situational. Sadly it's not that useful. You are better off with an actual weapon.

They are a situational item, but situational does not equal bad.

In my opinion, they are most effective for killing enemies (including elites) by shoving them off of ledges and making them take fall damage. And it can be more effective than you think: I had one quite surprising instance in which I kicked a Bombadier off of a ledge in the Promenade, and he fell on an elite zombie and managed to one-shot it.

They work like ♥♥♥♥ against elites. Barely moving them at all. And suck against bosses. Thus, they are best used as a secondary situational weapon as others said above to support your main one and sub weapons.

Sounds like something that I'd like to have as an extra skill, but not as a main weapon, especially since you can only carry two. And why would a pair of shoes shoes take up a weapon slot anyway, if you think about it?

The only good thing they do is kick back bombs to their casters. But that's situational as hell. I'd still swap that for a real weapon.
Not good for killing stuff, but fun to play around with.

When I have used them I think of it as using martial arts instead of one weapon proficiency. They still suck pretty bad though.

Frost blast is one of the most OP skills in the game, especially if you're using a brutality build.

I just wish the game didn't actively punish you for unlocking more stuff :steamsalty:

Yeah, the more I play, the more I feel that way. Same with new skills – all they do is diminish my chances of getting double turrets.

I've been playing for a year + and with the foundry update (which added parry) sheilds can be OP as ♥♥♥♥. Especially with mutations.
