Frost Blast or ice bow?

I'm going for a tactical build, i already have pyrotechnics (one of my fav) and i'm torn between choosing ice bow and frost blast

Ice Bow is better simply because it has damage reduction which is invaluable in higher difficulty games.

This, but damage reduction can come from a number of sources. If you've got a decent Forge, its possible to hit the DR cap with just one slot plus a late game -30% Amulet.

Assuming you're playing on the default difficulty, Ice Bow is that much better because you're going to want as many as three of your four slots to hit on Damage Reduction so you can hit the -75% cap.

Pyrotechnics is one of the stronger weapons. I just got my first 4-cell clear off the back of a Pyrotechnics plus a boss-dropped Tornado (don't have the Blueprint for it, but it had the +oil modifier so I quickly learned how to use it).

ice blast is quicker and isnt ammo based, really all the ice bow has going for it is more range

Both are realy good and usefull in a lot of situations. Ill take either based on whichever has the better stats at the time.

If the Ice Bow has the 'pierces targets' modifier it works just like the Frost Blast except with way better range. Better for players who are Cursed on on higher levels of difficulty. Dmg reduction on the Bow means even if you get hit you'll still be taking less damage than usual.

Spamming either on one enemy means they can resist being frozen and end up attacking you anyway and the limited ammo for the Bow means it's harder to spam in the first place.

Frost blast blasts it's way through when in hands of a proactive player, while reactive peeps take a bow the moment they see an ice bow.

Its a bit or a trade-off, because frost-blast does damage and freezes the enemy, but the bow has much more range, and you can be cautious...

good combination i found today:

icebow with piercing (alway amazing escpecially on high castle)

And. targets bleed when they thaw; that way you can also kill things at a distance with the icebow via bleeding (just spam arrows so they immediattely break the ice)

Depends on what gear you have on your skill-slots.

If you prefer a more ranged apprach and are equipped with some turrets, go with Ice Bow to freeze your enemies from a distance and slow them while the turrets do their work (piercing, bleeding ice bow and turrets with +damage on slowed targets come handy).

But if you're using skills like Knife Storm, Death Orb etc, you might as well go with Frost Blast, (especially with a Frantic Sword).
