OpenGL Launch command line prompt?
Can I automate that selection, or do I have to select that each time.

+1, would like to know, it's annoying to have a prompt when you will always select the same option.

+1 too... It's a minor thing but I find it annoying everytime I boot the game

It is a minor problem. But leaving it unfixed is a not so minor oversight.

It's not a problem. It's actually a solution in case your toaster can't handle non opengl version.
I assume you just can write a bat file if you're too lazy to make ONE click, but since you're too lazy for that you're probably too lazy to learn how to write bat files for domestic use as well.

You're wrong, as a programmer being lazy is a great mindset, because repeating stuff is annoying so you will create some work around to stop this repetitiveness.

It's more like frustration than lazyness? I don't understand why Steam didn't add an option like "remember this choice" and allowing the user to change it under options or something. Is it lazyness?

Hi everyone. I was looking online for a solution, and came across this thread. I think I've found a solution. It's messy, and verifying your game files will break this solution, but I'll share it anyway.

The only difference when running the OpenGL - Legacy mode over DirectX mode is the executable file used. The steps below will configure your game to ONLY run in OpenGL mode.

1. Go to your Steam Library, right-click on Dead Cells, and choose "Create desktop shortcut". We will run this later. (The shortcut doesn't contain a path to the game directory. Instead, it's a Steam launch string like steam://rungameid/588650. Thus, this shortcut is for testing that launching Dead Cells normally will result in OpenGL mode being used.)

2. Navigate to your ".\steamapps\common\Dead Cells" directory within Steam and locate two files: deadcells.exe and deadcells_gl.exe. Make backup copies of both of these files (ex. deadcells.original.exe and deadcells_gl.original.exe)

3. Delete your deadcells.exe file. Then, rename deadcells_gl.exe to deadcells.exe.

4. Run the shortcut that you made in step (1) to test if Dead Cells launches into OpenGL mode. No errors = success.

If you messed up or feel uncomfortable about any part of this, then it's simple to revert your changes. Simply go to your Steam Library, right-click on Dead Cells, go to Properties, click on the Local Files tab, and then click the "Verify integrity of game files". This will revert / replace your files back to their original state. Your backups will remain, though.
