If they got a nerf it means they were too powerful and not what the dev originally intended.
As the guy above said, sorry it's too challenging.
Online people these days aren't anything like what they were in 1.0.
They are 10x worse now.
Is it the difficulty you're playing at, one particular weapon?
I've been playing a long time now, and have found the balancing to be good overall. I've gotten through 3, 4, and 5 BC on the more recent updates, using those nerfed skills... so the game should be pretty doable. I'm not all that great at the game, just stubborn enough to keep playing; and I try to learn from my mistakes.
LOL. Thanks for that. I have my moments when the salt starts to flow and people get cranky.
I had the hardest time getting through 2 and 3 BC. I have no idea why I didn't just stop, to be honest. But I still liked the game, so I went for it.
I've beaten 3 and 4 using survival - and a lynchpin has been the powerful nade. It's been weakened, but it's still super good. A lot of the other balances have been OK in my books, and a fair number of the items are stronger now, to boot.
I'd totally recommend keeping at it, though. Unless it just stops being fun, of course.
Explosive Crossbow was OP, fire rate got nerfed - it's ok. Pushback-effect remained, it's still a very usable ranged weapon. Rampart Shield was OP too, great defense with good damage, it was too much. Also, normal mode with everything unlocked has never been more fun, all the gear is usable, even the Sandals and Nutcracker (good crits and very useful with a Force, Stun shield or one that freezes enemies on parry) if you change the approach of your game and a diverse gameplay that gives this title it's biggest advantage and my time with it very enjoyable.
I find the game to be in it's most balanced state. Excluding the Giant which I struggle a lot with on 4 cell difficulty. I am able to steamroll all other bosses, but the Giant is just too much for me. I'm just not good against it, there are so many attacks from every direction, it is too much for me.
But that's just me. The great thing in this game is that even while failing I enjoy the battles and will defeat that boss one time on 4 bc.
ps: your original thread are very toxic and one sided.
All you need to do is just aggro a couple of enemies until you get a decent train of mobs behind you, drop it to a corridor and watch everyone die. Very satisfying. The damage by the item should be enough (it was able to take out an Elite Knife Thrower with it's shield pylons in a single use at the starting area).
As for mutations, Hunter's Instinct is very effective with all the mobs dying at once, but with the little running around you have to do before use, it might be a waste.
However Parting Gift is excellent, very recommended here. It doesn't seem to be much by the description, but it's very effective against groups as one dead produce a bomb that can finish other unlikely survivors (those also have a little AoE) producing more bombs making it a chain reaction of inescapable death.
More overkill if you shot some from the pack with the Hokuto's Bow, thus they will pass on the amplified damage to others.
Even early on, you can find one with affixes that spreads oil around the trap with enemies burning after they die, or some that lets out a poison cloud after deployment and/or enemies emit poison after death (with 100% damage to poisoned targets). You can also just use Toxic Cloud quickly the moment before deployment (but make sure to do it BEFORE deployment). That cloud is more deadly, can pass on bleeding to nearby enemies with the right affix and stays in the area longer than the one the trap might emit, so it's a good way to make sure everyone gets affected before the fireworks start.
It is perfect to take out a shield dummy and the mobs nearby. All in all, it's the ultimate problem solver against a group of mobs through the whole game, but works wonders if you happen to have an Elite in the pack too. If that happens, make sure to stay on the same platform so that it won't follow you instead (MT should fix this). Very useful especially in the Promenade, Ossuary, the Sepulcher or the Castle where there are areas with dense population of enemies.
