Why did you nerf it...?
Okay, I was on the stable branch, and figured I should get used to the new beta branch since it'll be the eventual release. What in the name of christ did you do to Phaser? It was supposed to let you warp around back stabbing enemies multiple times while avoiding damage that could come in waves. I had it down to a 1 second cooldown in my other game from around.. 10 Skill I think. Now it's at stock of 3.5 seconds, and you can barely reduce it with Tactics?

I had an Frost Blast + Assassin's Dagger + Phaser build that just got completely and utterly wrecked because of this. The first time I played this game, I played, I kid you not, for probably a little over 10 hours straight (Stable branch) because it was fun. What you're doing now is just overly complicating something that was fun. I don't know if I'll honestly be sticking around if the changes are going to come so hard that they utterly break something you built. The entire core mechanic and mobility of Phaser is gone.

they nerfed it again reducing survival by -5% and giving a pathetic + 2% to brutality and tactics. It is getting worse with every tweak. No idea what build to choose because you don't know what weapons you get. and if you stray off of 1 build stat your just going to die. Oh I mean unless you build survival your going to die. 300 health against the watcher come guys ffs get real
Kendrid Nov 10, 2017 @ 2:58pm
The game was challenging enough before. I got the Watcher down to half health in the stable branch before dying. Please devs, don't do this to a game that was good. Game after game after game, every time in early access, I see them nose diving and just killing a game before it got good.

Where it was at was a good place, I don't care if you want to revamp stats and stuff like that, but when you triple a cooldown on something that revolves around a build for multiple weapon sets. Jesus christ.

I killed the watcher with an all brutality build, had 10 brutaliy and 4 survival. I got ahold of a bow of endless arrows. Really helps that you dont have to be in their face. Earlier i used pyrotechnics, a long range fireball. also only one brutality from gear.

The fact is though, they're doing away with "in their face" builds, as you put it. I just got Vampirism in the update, I was stoked about that, only to find THAT is broken now as well. You need a healing fountain to recharge it, instead of the old 25 second cooldown. This game is going downhill. It's ridiculous to make a skill only useful once until you're at a healing fountain.
Moonbane Nov 10, 2017 @ 4:30pm
Eh, tonic is also only useable till its recharged, it used to disappear when used. Vampirism just got a like treatment to reduce the healing you could get. It gave too much healing over time
Kendrid Nov 10, 2017 @ 4:32pm
It also was a risk-reward skill, because you took 75% more damage during the duration. I would have liked if they at least kept that. It made you play safe while also making you play careful. And if you wasted it, you had to sit there and blow 25 seconds more that could have been a timed door opened to you. There was more risk than reward if you played recklessly, they really didn't have to change it. They're changing waaay too much. They're killing builds with this. I know this is beta testing, and I hope they can see this post. Vampirism should have like.. a 2-3 minute cooldown if anything, but Phaser being shut down like it has been is sort of killing the point of the skill; to blink in, rip out damage, and blink away before getting swamped and taken down.

Edit: And what is this new "Scaling wall" thing? I saw it in the patch notes and nowhere does it describe how to do it.

Vampirism sucks in every meaning o the word now. Let's say you manage to get the most out of it and heal yourself from near death to maximum hp. It's still not worth to take a whole skill slot for basically and extra potion. Because that's what it is if we manage to get the most out of it and the only chance you ever get at least as much out of it as from a Tonic, is maybe in Challenge Rooms.
Nobody cares about an extra potion you have to work for even when you already have 4 potions by default. And as an extra, if you absolutely MUST have a 5th one for some reason, there's a far better option in the form of the Tonic that gives you the same effect without the work and an additional shield-effect.

I actually restarted my save file because when I unlocked Vampirism seeing how Brutality did not give any HP at 4.1. The description did not mention the tiny little detail that you can only use it once per biome and that made me feel so cheated, that I do not ever wanted to see it again in my repertoire.

I agree entirely. I couldn't do it, I just couldn't. I opted out of the beta and am going back to the stable build. I'll play it when this update rolls out, hopefully with Vampirism fixed, Phaser put back to how when it was useful, just... I'm praying for these devs. I just want to enjoy the game as it is now, before it gets broken with this update release...

...as for the Phaser, It's great that it's now half brutality instead of survival, but the fact that can reuse it every second now with 5 tactics, that's a bit too much
Kendrid Nov 10, 2017 @ 10:00pm
Yeah, but if you put 5 into Tactics, you're not gonna make it very far. That's a very big detriment just to gain back the cooldown from before. That's a huuuge damage loss. Before I was getting 7k backstabs with Assassin's Dagger, with 5 Tactics, it would be around 2k. You'd just be unable to kill anything at that point.

dual scrolls mean you pretty much always have a second stat with a few points in it

I was referring that the cooldown is way too low. It should be higher. And I'm using the Phaser a lot more than just the occasions I have an Assassin's Dagger. I use them regardless of weapon or any other equipment as it is just so useful for every scenario. But the cooldown is way too OP.
