[Cursed Sword vs Watcher] Finally!

Finally had a successful cursed sword run against the Watcher!

How did you manage to get runs in with Cursed Sword or was this just a by chance drop? 42 min run is also really nice! I rarely pick it up during a run as i usually need to carry it for a while to get to Watcher. I understand you can drop it and then pick up something else for the duration of the map and then go back to pick it up, but there is still rather tense situation at the start of the map. :)

I have been thinking that one could restart the save slot and get the blueprint and then try to get a run that would be good enough and then unlock it just before The Watcher. The this would require hours of replaying for each try.

I started from the beginning, but I wasn't sure I wanted to do another cursed sword attempt (I've failed a lot of them already) so i picked up the heart amulet for when I got a good weapon upgrade. Almost gave up the cursed sword in prison depths for a really good weapon drop, but got lucky on the upgraded one in the graveyard and figured I'd keep going since I was close.

I've probably attempted this 30-35 times (furthest before now was 3 days ago when i got the dont get hit achieve on the first boss during an attempt - got to the graveyard and then danced on spikes like an idiot).

Almost died in the beginning of the fight from a charge attack and then freaked out when the watcher had a last second tentacle round. I'm hype atm!

I never knew killing tentacles deals damage to the boss as well XD
And of course game decides to give you that much health on a cursed sword run.

Imagine how fast he would drop if you had gotten less health and had level 10 strength (I know that's possible as I've seen people post about runs where they had 10 in a stat before).

Any idea what the last two are?

Edits: Anyone looking to Flawless Watcher for Cheevo I recommend going all Str.
Edits: . . . and taking two Firebrands
Edits: Take Bear Trap or Ivy for your offhand items or anything with +Str.

@maximum yeah I ended up doing the death with 100 cells and death to elevator at the same time. Rip!

To be exact, on the elemental update, it's the second drop: the first kill gives the tonic, the second gives the cursed sword (kinda like the incomplete one, who gives the crossbow and the impaler).

Hah I never knew that's how it worked since I already had the initial blueprints pre-beta. Thanks for the info, very helpful!
