Is Ramparts too hard or am I just bad?
I can make it to Ramparts every game, but I can't seem to get past it. I tend to be pretty good at games like this, so I don't think I'm just terrible at the game, but who knows. I end up with just a big room of guys that I can't kill because as soon as one of them hits me they all hit me at once and I'm just dead. I may just quit the game because of it, as getting to the same level each time just to hit my head against the wall just isn't fun. I really like the game too. :-/

what can i say? i beat the ramparts like the second time i was there. did you collect every possible stat increase on the levels before? do you try to flesh your build out with always trying to have ranged options? (really NOT even necessary, but makes everything a bit easier) etc. i guess you'll just have to practice. took me almost 15h first time to "beat" the game. now i can do it pretty consistently. just need to "git gud" i'd guess.

Just skim the top of ramparts until you make it to the other side and then backtrack as safely as you can. Find the exit and leave whenever you get low. Also, get an elite kill as soon as you can so you have more options on leaving levels. They'll drop a vine ability permanent unlock that opens up other areas for you. Just attack, attack, atack, dodge to the other side of elite, attack X2-3, dodge to his other side, rinse and repeat. You have to modify the timing slightly if he changes up. Practice Practice.

the big help for ramparts is ITEMS. Use them as cheesy as you can, the warlocks are hard to avoid when there are many of them. Always use your roll in mid air when you approach the warlocks... the rolls will help alot. The warlock attacks dont hit you if you roll through them.

Just keep practicing and learn to use items practically. You'll get through it. Use items for the bird swarms! Learn to rinse your roll and jump for dodging. DONT give up playing, you will enjoy it more for the challenge it presents. Your just not utilizing all of the skills yet. Nothing worth it was ever easy.

What Can I Say? DONT listen to people who say that it is easy, or "wow it only took me 1-2 tries" or you need to "git gud". I personally had trouble passing the ramparts for a day because I was enjoying the game not trying to complete it as fast as I could.... There is no rush. I've only beat the first boss twice so far---- I died about 10 times before I got him with items during his last phase. Don't give up the game--- put some of your fav music on and dive in to it.

Its tagged under "difficult" games. It isn't a matter of "being good" its a matter of practice...

"Git Gud" is the dumbest advice I have ever heard. Everyone has been saying it like it means anything at all. Its like "We cant figure out how we do this awesome video game stuff so we just claim it as natural talent."

LOL...

I made it through Ramparts easily with throwing knives, turret + ice grenade. I then proceeded to get absolutely destroyed by the boss.

It's a rogue-like. Some games you'll have the right build when you hit it, some you won't. I agree it isn't a skill issue because I've literally played 4 runs and I made it through. I just had a good item pool.

I guess my problem is I try to kill every enemy on every level. The only real issue was me getting into a large group of enemies and just having bad luck. I've unlocked a lot of stuff. Maybe I just need to put more points into attack then health. I'll keep trying.

Make sure to use abilities as much as you can. Have at least a Flashbang or a Ice Grenade, they help a lot when it comes to groups of enemies so you can safely kill them instead of getting hit while you kill one.

Also if you haven't unlock the second potion upgrade (so you have 2 charges which helps a lot) and obviously upgrade weapons you are the most comfortable with.

Yea the best advice I can give is use the throwing knives, plus an ice grenade or flashbang

What are you using for a weapon? If you are using a sword that might be most of your problem, too slow for ramparts without a lot of CC. Quick bow, ice bow, double daggers, electric whip are all really great for getting through there. I also highly suggest turret, you can cheese 90% your way through safely by tossing a turret onto enemies below you and just focus on dodging. CC stuff is really great too, flashbang and ice grenade, and make sure you have leveled up your health at least twice as well so you can take a double hit if you have to.

Mostly you want to focus on dropping one enemy real quick then survive, roll, and just keep rolling. I don't think this area is particularly difficult aside from the fact things start hitting pretty hard here, you're probably just not using good set ups to get through, or you leveled stuff in a way that isn't useful in this area. Or maybe you're just a baddie and need to git gud :P. Hope some of this helps you out good luck man.

I usually either have the oil soaked sword, the dual daggers or the blood sword if I can get my hands on them. The turret does work really well at cheesing on that level and the ice grenade is a godsend. I just seem to get unlucky when there are lots of guys in the same room, because one mistake can oftentimes kill you because then all the enemies start hitting you while you are stunned. Going with all attack upgrades seems to help a lot (I had been favoring health) and getting the necklace that decreases damage is very helpful as well. I found a 30% reduced damage version one run.

The Ramparts is actually my favorite and I find it one of the easier ones. The old sewers is the bane of my existence on the other hand. The damn friggen mushrooms...

Melee vs flying enemies is generally bad, use grenades, throwing knives or electric whip. Basically, AoE, CC and Auto-targeting while also dodging, try to aggro the guys to some place where it is clear of ground enemies if you can.

If you have problem with the mages, make them a priority over other ground enemies. Also, the necklace that gives 75% projectile reduction will make these guys a joke. Have fun. :)

I really like the Ramparts too, cool concept and stage as a whole. I only had problems with the warlocks attacking me through walls but the rest was fine, I guess.

Try getting some AoE skills and don't just jump into groups of enemies; they can't kill you if you freeze/blast them all. Do get attack upgrades and I recommend at least one ranged weapon. In a few more hours you will probably be able to breeze your way through.

Rampart will punish you for being sloppy, but it's a good place to learn about the game's pacing

Once you are more familiar with dodging / countering enemies I'd actually recommend you go to sewers as you can get better & more loot there

Eventually you can do Ossuary / Prison & be sitting on some really rediculous stats & items before Incomplete one

Pro tip: if you deal to damage to any of the red bats, all the red bats coming after you will retreat slightly.

Also, once those bats start chasing you, they will never stop until either you or they are dead - if you get a bunch of them on your tail, you may want to rush down to the bottom of your current tower and use the teleporter to get out of enemy-infested territory, allowing you to fight the bats on your own terms without other enemies harassing you. Once they're dead, you can teleport back into the tower and resume your normal activities.

I had a level where there were like 50+ red bats in one vertical section. I knew I'd die, but I jumped down there anyways. I just wish I had been recording it, because it was pretty hilarious how many of them were chasing me.

I've managed to get past Ramparts once so far. I think my rushing in too fast is usually what kills me. Last run I jumped down, and it was far enough that I got stunned when I landed, then 3 enemies had their way with me. RIP
