So I'm instead playing it on PC via the Google Play games Beta, its surprising how much we're missing here.
One thing I'd put it down to would be Steam seeming to not allow these freebie games to have third party advertisements, since I'm sure that the clicks are more how Bethesda gets their money than the actual MTX.
So the only reason the publisher put the game on steam was to increase customer base in hopes that some would just go play it on mobile where they get updates and generate ad revenue.
I don't mind the ads in the mobile game. At least they give you something like extra caps, advance your exploration by 30 min, a guaranteed successful room rush, or Nuka Quantums
Other mobile games don't give you anything for watching mobile ads.
Bazinga!!!

Thank you for contacting the Bethesda Customer Support Team. My name is Andrew and I'd be more than happy to assist you today.
We understand that you're inquiring about whether content on the mobile version of Fallout Shelter will become available on the PC version, as well as any future content updates for PC.
We appreciate your interest! While our Team can't provide any insight on this matter, we can recommend that you keep an eye out for the latest Bethesda.net news here: https://bethesda.net/en/news
Thank you for your continued interest and support in Fallout Shelter. Please feel free to contact us again if you require any further assistance!

They're not straight up denying that there will be any updates for the PC version, but their reply certainly didn't fill me with optimism.
Like many others here have already done, the best current solution would be to install Google Play Games on your PC and install Fallout Shelter from there.
It's not as optimised as the version here on Steam unfortunately, so expect stuttering and the occasional crash.
It is fair to say they don't care at all, intentionally or not.
can you transfer your save if it's downloaded from the microsoft store?
Yes, not at all hard to do that.
Transfer from the Mobile version you mean?
But again the Mobile saves can't contain anything in it that is new content that the PC version does not have. I see no point to using Fallout Shelter from Microsoft Store app as it's the same as the Steam version.
It overall just makes me mad because all of this is due to simple and poor laziness on Bethesda part. Here we are about to get a bunch of Nintendo 64 games ported to PC with ease and with Ray Tracing and yet we can't just play the Mobile version of this game on our PCs, pure BS if you ask me.
