Fallout Shelter
All my Mr. Handys disappeared - Help
I have been playing Fallout Shelter for about 70-80 hours now. Originally I had the account on my Android Phone and then switched the save over to PC on Steam.

Recently when I started the game, I got an error message and the game crashed. Once I opened and restarted the game, all my Mr. Handys were gone.
I had about 11 Mr. Handys. A lot of them I spent real life money on and now they're all gone.
They're not destroyed on the floor. Every single one of my 11 Mr. Handys has dissappeared without a trace.

I really would like to know how an error like that can happen, especially with something people can spent real life money on. Is there any way to figure out the issue or retrieve my Mr. Handys?

I've tried messaging Bethesda Support about this but they just sent an automated answer basically saying they can't help with Fallout Shelter related Issues and I should just look into the Forum if someone has had something like that happen as well.

Did you not send them outside the Vault?
They don't do you any good inside your vault.
This game isn't exactly supported anymore anyways.

I did not send them outside no. I had them on autocollect for my vault, to collect electricity, it was a pretty self efficient system in which I didn't have to do much.

The game not being supported anymore does not mean someone might not know something to help. But thanks.

People say it's a bug and there are many other similar bugs because those saves don't always work on PC. PC doesn't get those game updates and seasonal updates like the Mobile version does.

Well... the game not being supported anymore..... means you won't get any help from Bethesda. But, yes... you should be able to get some help from players no doubt. As to the issue.... I haven't had an issue of 'disappearing Mr. Handy's INSIDE my vault. But, I do lose them if I send them to the Wasteland..... which sux for me cuz I would like to send them out to find cool stuff.
At any rate..... as has been suggested by others.... you could always get yourself one of the 'Save Editor' mods for the game. There's a couple decent one's I know of.... one you can use in the web browser drag / drop game save file into..... and one you can download and use on your PC. Then you open that vault save in the editor, make whatever changes, save the vault, close the vault, then exit the Save Editor. There's many 'good' reasons for using those mods. One is cuz they have 'fix' options which can resolve some known bugs. And, some options like forcing births..... cuz that's another bug I've seen someone having where they just stayed prego for no reason and wouldn't give birth. But, another thing you can do is add Mr. Handy's to your vault. So, it's not really cheating.... just replacing the missing Handy's.

Am I missing something or perhaps just incorrect info on my part? From what I've read the only thing those ever do is farm bottlecaps ($) when you send them outside. Otherwise they are pointless. While they can't be repaired, you can restore them for 2000-caps if they die.

If support does not come back with anything anymore then I might really try one of those editors. Does this not risk any issues with steam though? Otherwise it's honestly the best option for me. I do have proof of purchase for my stuff as well so it should be all good. I only recently realized that all my pets turned invisible too, so I wonder if my savefile got corrupted somehow.

Thank you for your help!

And You can use Mr. Handys to also fight stuff as well as collect recources. I had my vault set up in a way that it was selfsefficient, so I would never run out of electricity because the mr. handys would pick it up, even the 3 minutes after I close the game. But without that, I fall heavily behind.

No.... the Save Editors don't 'mess' with any aspect of Steam.... doesn't disable achievements if that's what you are worried about. However, if you use that cloud save feature.... your saves on PC wouldn't properly correspond with steams cloud save. But, that feature is known to cause corrupted saves anyway so, I highly suggest disabling cloud sync for this game.

AS for Mr. Handy's...... yeah, they are GREAT for use IN the vault. In fact, you could argue that's all they're very useful for. They go back n forth across the screen on the level they are placed and collect stuff. So, say you have a Power production set of rooms along with some Food and Water production. You never need to click on those cuz Mr Handy will do it for you. Imo, that's the single best thing about them. AS mentioned.... they will also contribute in emergencies like attacks and fires. Sending them out to the wasteland is just for getting caps I believe. There maybe more to that but, unsure..... as I mentioned they just keep disappearing if I send them out for some odd reason.

Also, worth pointing out for anyone using this game on BOTH mobile and PC..... the game is two different versions and you can't port saves back n forth between them. You shouldn't use cloud saves from a mobile version on PC cuz it will get corrupted.

Oh ok that's cool I never knew that. Seems they are extremely useful inside the vault then.

But yes you could use the save editor to get them back again. Or view thr save and see if you can actually find and restore them. I had to do that a couple times. Not to cheat so to speak but to fix a couple things. I had lost a couple dwellers both in doors and out and couldn't click on them after a while of forgetting about them. The data was there in the save though and was able to just bring them back to life that way.

no help at all, I contacted them with the same thing, they told me if it was gone then it is no longer there even if you spend money on it

Again it is most likely a partially corrupted save game file. Nothing anyone can do about it. Due to the PC version being so old compared to the Mobile versions.

If your Phone or Tablet is nice enough to handle this game with large vaults and not come to a crawl. Look at maybe getting...

> USB to HDMI adapter for Phones/Tablets
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089QS4LKH

> BlueTooth Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Combo

Now can easily play the Mobile version on a TV/Monitor

I ended up getting the save editor to re-edit the Mr. Handys back into my vault and it worked without a problem. Support had a similar answer for me and I didn't see myself losing money on the items I bought so I figured it to be fair game.

So that's how I ended up fixing it, was really easy to set up as well.

Can you fix an corrupted save with the save editor?
Dr. Permixtus Apr 20, 2023 @ 12:54pm
My save file was probably corrupt so I suppose you can, but it may depend on the type of corruption. You could always try and see.
Mardoin69 Apr 21, 2023 @ 9:58am
There are some tools in the Save Editor's which can 'fix' some of the bug issues that are more common. Like there's a bug where the time in the save doesn't properly update... called the 'time glitch' and there's a 'fix' option for that. There's also some 'happiness' bug(s) that can occur from time to time and it has a 'fix' for that. There's several more. I like to use the happiness fix prior to launching and opening a vault cuz it usually occurs as soon as you do open it. This kind of ensures that when I open it, the game will register that all my dwellers are in fact at the proper happiness levels... or else it'll give you that daily report and sometimes claim they were at zero for no apparent reason. But, BE SURE you've disabled Cloud sync for this game or else it will / can cause save corruption too.

Yes I have ran into the time glitch before, what a PITA.
Basically what happened (cause it's hard to know if you have it) I got attacked by Rad-Scorpion; now these generally take quite a bit of time to fight off. Well after probably 10-15 (real time) we finally fought it off. Well the game did not seem to think so, the time glitch kicked in and the whole "red alert" lock-down would not lift. Even after I allowed like a good extra 15-20 mins (real time) to pass. I immediately knew something just wasn't right. So yes the FOS-SaveGame-Editor definitely has its uses, and not just to "cheat"

Honestly I don't see why they had to have micro-transactions anyways.

They could have just incorporated Mr Handy as a random lunch box card. And maybe added some more possible ways to get yourself lunch boxes in-game without having to buy anything.
