My Vault is unable to Load!!!
The game keep Crashing when the Vault is loading. I can create a new vault but my current main Vault cannot be Loaded.

I read old posts which instruct me to Verify the games files and adjust the Vault1.sav.bak to Vault1.sav but it still not work.

Anyone have this problem, please help!!!

If you deleted the 'Vault1.sav' and then changed the name of the 'Vault1.sav.bkp' file to 'Vault1.sav' but, it still wouldn't load... it means both files were corrupted. And, that most likely happened because Internet service was interrupted (only takes a second of stutter) while steam was 'Cloud' Syncing the game. Some people have super reliable Internet service (never having micro disconnects) and get away with using 'Cloud Sync' with this game. But, a LOT of people have save corruption cuz of it. You'd be better off disabling that feature for this game--right click in steam library choosing 'Properties.' There's probably nothing you can do for that old save but, you could try loading it up into a Save editor (FSSE) and run the 'Tools--Fix' options on it. Then from file menu, choose 'Save' and then 'Close' vault file before exiting the Editor. Try loading the save again. You might get lucky... if the Save Editor was able to load it in the first place.

I can load the save file in FSSE and adjusting things but still unable to load the game. So sad because it takes so long time to grow this Vault and have this corruption. However thank you so much for detail instruction!!!

Which FSSE, do you use this one https://robot9706.github.io/FSSE/ ? It have a few fixes options that the online save editor don't have.

Yes , I use that FSSE, I click all the FIX in the TOOLS tab of my faults (time glitch, dweller ID, happiness) and try to adjust other things as well. However after closing Vault in the FSSE, it's still unable to be loaded.

Did you hit the 'Save' option in the 'File' menu BEFORE "closing" the vault file? If you just load the vault file, make changes / fixes, then exit the Editor, It does NOT save those changes to the file. Must hit 'Save' and 'Close' before 'Exit' in the editor menu.

Just recently got same issue. Power went off, my PC shutted down. When I turned it back my vault gone. Tried renaming Vault1.sav.bak file and FSSE - both not working. Also did a small trick by opening files Vault1.sav.bak and Vault1.sav with notepad - both shown empty. So I think my Vault is gone. This issue have been reported since like 2017 - still no solution for that. I guess if you start new one, have to back up save file manually.

Yes, never rely on steams 'Cloud Save' feature. Backup game saves (that are important to you) manually from time to time. And, this game is infamous for corruption of saves with that 'Cloud Sync' enabled for it.... for a LOT of people. Some people have super reliable internet service--no micro-second disconnects--and zero power issues. So, they don't have issues with Cloud Sync but, if in doubt... do manually. I turn off those Cloud Save features globally for any app I can personally. Always doing manual backups but, that's just my personal preference.
