Fallout Shelter
Dweller SPECIAL stats and HP - Alternatives to editor?
I've seen a bit about save file editors on here, as well as other forums, but am slightly concerned about the reintegration of said saves back into the game folder. If anyone could tell me about any serious complications or bugs associated with the process, I'd really appreciate it.

As I'm nearing my 200 Dweller limit, saving required space only for Legendary Dwellers, I find that there's a noticeable disparity between early-game Dwellers who've trained to END 10, and newer ones (some did not start training until lvl 25+ due to unavailability of Fitness Room) who trained with END+ clothing right from the ground up. Although I can see the HP difference in combat or Incidents, I have no idea what their actual HP totals are. Will this info be available via editor programs, or is there another way to examine them without possibly compromising the file?

So, the save editor's work fine and I've never had any bug / glitch issue's with using them. In fact, it's the save editors' which can fix some of the bug issue's that occur in FOS.....like the time sync issue or happiness bug....etc. The only time it might become an issue is if you're using the Steam Cloud save feature and / or try to edit a vault while running the game. I only ever edit / open a vault in the save editor before launching steam and / or the game. Then ofc...when you have the vault open in the editor, you need to use it's save function after making any changes. This will give the vault#.sav file a 'last updated' date of that time. The steam cloud sync should see the save as newer than whats in the cloud and then update the cloud save to match the one on your PC. But, I don't trust that cloud save feature to always work correctly. It's bugged out more than one game's saves for me and many others. I disable steam cloud save altogether cuz of it.

Anyway, the save editor has a tab 'dwellers' in which you can see 'health' with a number value 'current / max' which is their hitpoints value. It's the only way I know of to see actual numbers for HP values. And, yeah....training up their endurance real high prior to them gaining levels can have a significant impact on their total max hp by the time they reach lvl 50.

You can use the web editor as a reader. You can just load your vault into it to check the HP stats of dwellers and then close the browser without changing/saving the file so your vault is unaltered.

Mardoin69 & Icarus Tactic, thanks for the great input, I appreciate the clarification and tips very much. I think that I'll have to build a quick spreadsheet using the info furnished by the save editors, then take stock of my Dwellers and figure out which ones to replace via breeding and Rares acquired by other means (offline and without cloud saves for safety's sake).
