Why can disasters happen in the overseer's office when you LITERALLY CAN'T SEND DWELLERS INTO IT TO FIGHT IT!
Three times now I've almost had my entire 36 person vault be wiped out because a mole rat attack spawned in the overseer's office which since you can't send dwellers into that room, instantly spreads to about 15 mole rats attacking your vault.

Why was the game programmed this way? Why has it not been patched?

It's literally just "Hey, here's a completely unavoidable mega disaster, go f*ck yourself"

Or you could just manually send some people into the room to fight them there.

What part of you physically cannot place dwellers into the overseer's office do you not understand? Try it, you literally can't do it. And if you try and send dwellers in from other rooms when the attack happens, they physically can't get to the room fast enough to prevent the spread even if they're in the adjacent room.

Works fine for me...

Oh, and mole rat attacks do not "instantly spread to about 15 mole rats in the entire vault" if you do not take care of them in the room they fist pop up in. The same group of mole rats moves from room to room. And, honestly, if MOLE RATS are wiping out your entire vault? You seriously need to equip your dwellers better. Are you giving them armor and weapons at all?

No, as they move more come. If you do no deal with them in the first room they spread to three adjacent rooms. This continues until they're dealt with. It does not remain the same amount, there, more of them appear.

And yes, every single one of my dwellers has at minimum a +2 stat armor and a 5-6 damage weapon. The problem isn't my dwellers being poorly equipped, the problem is trying to take on the 20-30 that eventually come when they spread.

It's easy, build this room somewhere in isolation and forget it. Noone cares about the overseers room. Same with the storage rooms. I never defended this rooms, let it burn, let the rats and scorps run around there isolated from the rest of the vault.

Countless mole rat attacks on my vaults over the years I've played, I've literally never seen this even once. Nor have I found myself unable to send dwellers to the Overseer's Office when the room is attacked by something.

By the time you've got the Overseer's Office and are being attacked by mole rats, 5-6 damage weapons are pretty crappy.... I've got at least one dweller in every room toting a 15 damage range weapon by that point.

Armor has no effect in vault-combat. Only in quests and wasteland!!!

You can send dwellers to fight in the overseer's office. I've done it several times.

Hi Alvin,
I'm guessing you upgraded your rooms, like any normal Person would do, since upgraded rooms are more efficient. What the game dosen't tell you beforehand is that incidents in a room become >way< more serious once you upgrade it. (I believe the three tier room upgrades correspond to the common, rare and legendary weapons and outfit tiers, meaning, if your guys don't have rare equipment don't upgrade the room.)
Apart from that incidents only spread orthogonally. If you don't have adjacent rooms incidents cannot spread. They happen and just go away. I did the 'Survive 10 mole rat attacks without casualties'-task by only fighting 3 times. At the same time, extinguishing a fire in a tier 3 room cost me 6 or more stimpacks. I scrapped the room afterwards.
Things might be different in middle and late game, I'm fairly new to the game myself. Fires and early critters only move orthogonally.

PS: Reading the wiki was helpful to me.
