Does this game have a looooot of waiting?
Hey everybody,

Decided to give this game a try after hearing about it for so long. I'm still at the very early stages of the game. I think only 12 dwellers, a x2 power, x1 diner, x2 water and x2 living. I have one guy equipped with some armor and a gun and he is out exploring, I have got 3 ladies pregnant one after another using the same guy (bow chicka) and everyone else is working in the rooms. It seems like i'm spending a lot of time waiting so that i can collect power, food and water and when a dweller levels up i click them so they can ding. And occasionally a radroach attack will happen and i will switch my 2nd gun to somebody in that room.

Does it get a little more fast paced later on or is that pretty much all the gameplay? just a lot of waiting in between major events?

EDIT: for reference the only other dedicated time-management game i've played is Carrier Deck and it was super fast paced with always something to do/click on. Different game type and stuff yadda but i just wasnt expecting FS to be so slow. So i'm hoping it speeds up a bit eventually.

Since FS is some mobile phone style game, you'd be fine with making some arrangements and logging out. On your next login all rooms will be ready to deliver, as most of your happy vault families. Later you'll have more overseeing to do, especially with raider attacks on your vault (from 16 or so dwellers and up) and when starting quests (from 30 or so dwellers and up). Have fun!
when you get the overseer room you get to send people out on missions that you play once they arrive and after lvl'ing it you can send more...

Your dude that's exploring will most likly get rads so you will want to give him rad away or else he will give all other dwellers rads and everybody will die and that will be the end of the game so make sure before he enters the vault agien give him rad away.
The guy in the wastes should be able to find some weapons, early on managing stimpacks and radaway will be a huge concern. Remember that putting three production centers together will maximize output, and upgrading will do so even more. (upgrade after merging)

Well, that depends on what you mean by fast-paced. Real-time stuff, like combat in the vault or during quests run at normal speed, you cannot speed them up. Meanwhile, the dwellers in the vault working on the power plants and stuff, they also run at normal speed, however, the higher their stats and if the stats is best suited for their job, the less time they generate resources. You can also speed up production but the more you do it, the higher your chance of disaster.

Missions usually depend on their own difficulties. There are no "hard" or "easy" difficulty scale, but you get the idea by looking at the specific requirements, some missions require dwellers of certain levels and carrying weapons of certain damage points. Usually, the "harder" missions take longer for them to travel to the mission spot. It's not the kind of game you want to sit for a long time playing. It's mostly just a game that you check from time to time. Training and crafting also take time.

Of course you can send your dwellers out there to wander, and how long you want them to stay is entirely up to you. The journey back, whether it's from quests or just wandering, is half of the time they spend getting to the quest spot and the time you let them they spend wandering around.

Pets can help reduce the duration of some of these things. However, EVERYTHING can be sped up to be completed in an instant with nuka bottles.

The key is patience early on.

I see people expand to soon. Send dwellers to the waste land to soon.

But once you get the Overseers office, the game will really pickup.
