storage question
I noticed/thought of something today and wondered why I didn't see it in any of my google searches. Granted I have yet to try it on this new vault though. single wide med bays and science labs have the same storage as 2 wide and 3 wide, so why is it for the storage floors that people opt for 3-2-3 or 3-3-2 layouts and focus on 2 wide ones in between storage rooms rather than say 3-1-1-3 or something?

i guess in the end it really depends on your consumption/production rates of stims and radaways :/

ryuu, they dont have to be double wides was my point. singles store the same amount.

lol, 31 single wide :P

single wide rooms have the same storage as doubles. why would you double the space used to achieve the same storage capacity?

i literally JUST looked in game. single medbay storage 35. double 35, triple 35

MEDBAY AND SCIENCE....not talking the actual storage room.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I just looked in game. My storage went from 165 to 175 for a single room and to 185 for a double room.

Each med or rad room only gives you 10 storage per single wide room. That's the way it has been for over two years. If yours is different, then you have a glitch and should probably have that looked at.

Please note that the individual room doesn't say how much it stores. It shows you your current total capacity!

TBH, i'm glad I'm wrong :)

The issue with Medbays and Science labs is that upgrading the room doesn't increase storage like every other room that provides some kind of storage.

Not just that! Almost all other rooms get bonuses for having been built at maximum width (and upgrade level as well). Compare this with Storage room:
1-wide level 1 = 10 storage * 3 = 30
3-wide level 1 = 30
1-wide level 3 = 25 * 3 = 75
3-wide level 3 = 125 (+50; +66% extra!!!)

Worth noting that energy consumption is higher for 3-wide room than 3x 1-wide. But still it's more beneficial per storage slot above level 1.

The thing is, you get the most production per room from med/science when they are 2x. So many people build them as the 2x room on each floor. The lack of bonus storage for 3x rooms means that's the most economical & efficient way to build them.

True, true, it may be even a deliberate design decision! To make at least some rooms in the game attractive for using as 2-slot "fillers". And not needing to upgrade them as well, so less dangerous incidents.

Yes, having lots of 2x med/science rooms, all level 1, can still produce/store more stims and radaway then you will consume, and will squash even RadScorpions that try to spawn in them.

I don't care for production and try to isolate them on floors that aren't connected to the main vault, i only need them for storage. I wish there was some separate special room dedicated to storage of Stims and Rads with good storage capacity. For example at least 50 of each for 3-wide level 3 room.
In my opinion Medbay and Science labs' storage should be tweaked. I'll write that down to my "to mod" list even though i haven't started doing anything in that list :hee: Maybe i'll have time someday, especially if the community would be supportive.
