Max Stat Dwellers Not All Equal?
This has been bothering me for some time and I wondered if anyone else has noticed the same thing, or has an explanation...

I have a dedicated team of 3 dwellers for exploration and missions, with all SPECIAL stats maxed, and all 3 of them were trained to max at level 1, and at the same time. However, even when equipped with the same gear and pets, they appear to have different amounts of HP (for example) - one of them typically uses 3 times as many stims as the other two, which is bizarre.

How could this be the case?

From what I read, HP depends on Endurance stat, in a somehow specific way. When dweller levels up, his current Endurance is used to calculate the HP increase. This means that if you max out Endurance of lvl 1 dweller and then let him level up, he will have more HP than dweller that has same amount of Endurance, but you trained his Endurance to the max on higher level.

Unfortunately I no longer remember the source where I found this, you might want to investigate this a bit in case I remembered it wrong.
Here it is how it works:
Hitpoints increase with each level up and you get like 2,5hp + (END*0,5) (including endurance gained from wearing armor)
So the max hp you get at a level up is 2,5 +(17*0,5) so that is 11 maximum HP points per level up. So a dweller that has worn heavy wasteland gear on each level up from LVL1 through 50 will end up with about 644hp. A character that leveled to 50 with only 1 points in END will only have 255hp.

So try to make sure that upon level up you have highest (max 17) ammount of END stat so to get the most HP.

The easiest way to make that happen is to simply max out all stats by training while the character is still level 1, have a heavy wasteland gear and a good wepon ready and simply send him out to the wasteland to explore. (usually a 2 day run will level him conveniently to level 50). Once he is level 50 you can give the heavy wasteland to your next level 1 toon and repeat the process. Also noteworthy if Endurance is 11+ Dwellers will get negative RAD damage while exploring ...so they dont need as much rad-aways...this doesnt apply to quests or random encounters that involve RAD damage.

Thanks for the help guys - you are quite right, though I already knew this. My question is how can there be a difference in HP between 2 dwellers who have BOTH been levelled to max in all stats from level 1? They should both have the maximum HP - but one of my quest team is ALWAYS weaker than the others and needs far more healing.

This, as I say, irrespective of armour, weapons, pets etc. Shouldn't happen, surely?

Its not just the leveling...did the dweller wear the same armor as the other?
The Endurance buff on the equipped armor is factored into the HP gain upon level up so lets say a guy with a radiation suit will end up with less hP than a guy that had HEavy Wasteland Gear equipped throughout his leveling.

I also wonder if the enemies prioritize a certain dweller with their attacks. Like always go for the guy with the highest DPS or something.

It would be easier to judge if the game had exact info of how much HP each dweller has, for a variety of reasons... including to sort the full list by their HP to find out who requires healing after an accident or invasion

Ah I see - so the stats added by armour/clothing increase the SPECIAL stats upon level-up too? That would make a difference, and such a mechanic is far from obvious... Thanks for that!

@holeyTeller I agree that it should be possible to view this info too. Once a vault has 100+ dwellers it would be really useful to have more filters to find out their status/equipment/stats etc.

Exactly, and the ITEM with the highest END buff is Heavy Wasteland Gear which increases by 7. Sturdy Wasteland Gear still gives +5 which only means 1HP per LVL less, compared to the Legendary Heavy Wasteland Gear which might be quite an undertaking to manufacture early in the game.

In fact, I still can't make the Legendary Wasteland Gear yet! The +7 I do have in abundance though - time to make a new questing team perhaps...

Thank you all :steamhappy:
