Perception in battle & wasteland

Hey guys. So I'm in the process of training my best dwellers up a bit and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what perception does for you in the wasteland or during quests. Most of the other stats I understand but this one's giving me pause..

Wikia contains wrong info, Luck only affects caps. Perception affects critical hit minigame speed AND item gains in the wasteland.

well it's explained in the wikia in game soooo

Luck also greatly influence items you get in the wasteland. From my own experience Perception is better tho.

I prefers to upgrade every skill before sending a guy in the wasteland so I can just let it go in the wasteland without having to get him back, he'll come back by himself

So does everybody, including myself and my mom. But you can upgrade a single skill to max 17 with clothing, and that's actually what we are talking about here.
