can't find vault file

I've looked for the vaultX.sav file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and I can't find it. The game works fine but I can't find the saved game files. Would it be named something different?

Try there : \Users\ [username] \AppData\Local\FalloutShelter

If you have Steam Cloud enabled for Fallout Shelter, go to Steam\Steamapps\logs and open cloud_log.txt then look for the line with ' [AppID 588430] ', some of these lines with tell where the local files are located.

Are you using windows 10??
If so go to C:\users\[your user name]\appdata\:Local\FalloutShelter
When you get to the folder with your user name, if you don't see a folder called "appdata" , type it manually into the go bar of you file manager.

If it didn't save properly and you turned off or rebooted your computer your file is GONE. Happened to me. That's why I havn't played in a long time.
