Is it okay to leave a room empty with no dweller?
There's rat crawling around and I fear about that...

rats are just sugar coating visual effect, or you could call it a visual indication that it's not staffed

To avoid the molerats I like to extend my elevators down several levels and make some storage rooms down there, molerats will only appear in the lowest levels and dig their way up through the vault rooms but they can't climb elevator shafts. Since there are no rooms directly above them, the molerats just go away after some time. This also works for fires in those rooms to stop them spreading upwards.

The little black rats are just a visual thing, they don't do anything but indicate an empty room.

because an adjacent room has contact to dirt.

you can buil a vault "molerat proof" with elevator shafts left, right and a row at the bottom. you also need rows of elevators above/belove each floor with rooms or fill in all the space with rooms so there's no dirt in direct contact with any of the rooms.
but this is endgame, where molerats aren't an issue.

pfff, mole rats are just liek radroaches. Anyway, I still want to sling the theory that not reducing molerat spawn helps reduce radscorpion spawn.

I always have at least two dwellers in all of my rooms (except LQ) so that I have no problems fighting radscorpions.

I think you're confusing molerats with the normal rats that are a visual effect at the bottom of uninhabited rooms.

No, Molerats are like IRL Naked Mole Rat, execpt it's big and hostile.

That visual effect is just a shadow of a small rat scrawlling around.
