Fallout Shelter
Dwellers dying when I'm logged off.
I would really like it if they changed this, maybe set a certain time you want a dweller to explore the wastes instead of just killing him when I'm logged off? I shouldn't have to log in every 3 hours to tell my explorer to return to the vault, this was fine when it was on the phone as a phone app game, but I might necessarily be able to log on and tell them to return.

Maybe make it so you can set a number of hours before returning to the vault?

Just check their Stimpak supply, about 20 should usually be enough for them to survive the night, otherwise call them back, especially if they got weak weapons and stats.
You have to manage that and it's not a big deal if you're not playing in Survival mode.

Yeah, I learned survival was not the way to go the hard way >_> I don't mind ♥♥♥♥ attacking my vault more often, but wasteland explorers dying every time I log in? because they are too dumb to explore for only a few hours XD.

Would be nice if you could give them commands like that, but not gonna happen :steamsad: So just deal with it, don't leave anyone overnight if they are weak.

I was lucky enough to have a lunchbox that started me off with 2 legendary people. Both the same person but still.

You should know how long they will last and return them before they die or if you cannot survive for a time when you will be unable to recall them then you need to call them back early.

This is how exploring wasteleands work and the game would be unplayable if they did not progress while you are not playing the game.

You need to improve their stats, level their endurance higher and equip endurance gear when at level 1, to make them survive longer.

"Survival Mode" is terrible anyway - your dwellers start off at level 5 giving them a huge disadvantage in HP if you want to maximize your dwellers. On the other hand, "Normal Mode" dwellers start at level 1 so if you're careful, you can keep them low level until you build your SPECIAL training rooms.

44 HP is not that much of a disadvantage :hee: BTW, radio dwellers also arrive at level 5 on Survival! Making breeding even better.

Still, I'd rather not have to kick out any weak dwellers, so I'll stick with normal. Besides, the only real difference between the two is death is final in survival. Other than that, there's no worthwhile differences that make survival worth playing - the changes are simply disadvantages, and not extra content.

Finally, I make it a priority to keep my dwellers alive, so death isn't really an issue.

Well, more attacks means easier to do some achievements :hee:
Also the game is too casually easy anyway, makes Normal mode kinda booooiiiiing. Still would be nice to have some extra content, i agree.

Well, guide says that legendary junk drops are earlier and more abundant in survival, i think that's a good price for that mode.

9.6

Q: How does finding junk in the wasteland work? Are +X% wasteland junk pets worth it?

A: Short version, Wasteland Junk pets are amazing in survival but only average in normal.

Basically there are two kinds of junk events, fixed and repeatable. Repeatable occur roughly every 160 minutes, while fixed occur at fixed times of course. Both events have a specific SPECIAL stat associated with them, and the higher that explorer's stat the better the chance of getting a piece of junk. What SPECIAL matters is actually different depending on a normal or survival vault (etherealshatter). In survival explorers find way more legendary junk and constantly do it so long as they can survive the trip, so as long as they survive what SPECIAL they have doesn't really matter. In normal though endurance, charisma, and luck (ECL) are the biggest SPECIAL determinants in finding legendary junk. Because of the lower drop rates, you will actually maximize the amount of legendary junk you get by leaving SPIA low and maxing ECL (while focusing on EL with outfits).

Wasteland Junk pets add their percent chance of getting a second piece of junk if an explorer succeeds at a junk event. Since explorers find a tonne of legendary junk in survival this pet greatly increases how much is found. In normal though because much less legendary junk is found, this pet can sometimes cause an explorer to find more regular junk and return sooner before they get more legendary junk than they would've without the pet. If one focuses on early legendary junk though (which is mostly endurance determined), say by equipping Heavy Wasteland Gear on a max SPECIAL explorer, then this pet can still shine (though Wasteland Return Speed is better).
