Sending an ae weapon like this with 2 automatic weapons is the go-to for a 3 man quest group usually or you can use this for defending your vault as only gun damage matters but don't send 1 dweller alone with it on quests or exploring the wasteland and get a event with them.
I always saw the carrier just run around the room (Storage room - Wherehouse). I assumed it wasn't contributing.
I send mine out on quests with 2 others (Hardened Gatling and Hardened Flamethrower) and it works good.
Yeah, using one person with AoE weapon for 3 person quest crew is useful.

I just can't abide that the wielder will face away from an enemy and drop the payload far away. Even with a "Guided" Fatman.
The MIRV is a good weapon, by the numbers. One of my teams has one. I still don't like it compared to almost any other weapon type.
