Thank you for saying this as I did find some posts from reddit etc saying the same thing was happening to them. I decided to cut my losses and breed them back up haha. Although re-verifying the game files twice seemed to have fixed it as I haven't had the problem again since, and yes backups seem very attractive at this point haha.
I feel as though this has gone a bit off topic. Can someone close this down now as I found the solution on my own. In fact I may very well delete this entirely.
Edit: Oh, that's all you got huh? Thought so.
I was trying to make my way past a lvl 40 glowing wendigo when I saw he was fighting a diseased molerat level 22. I watched this molerat destroy the wendigo and then come for me, everytime i got his health down to zero he would instantly regain all of it. Died 3 times finally gave up.
Solution: Run. Move your dwellers out of that room instead of defending it and out of the adjacent rooms. They will infest other rooms, so repeat that tactic until they give up and disappear.
