What is the point of vault doors and vault guards?
Seriously.
I just got raided three times (first three times, at that), they walked up, sliced my "advanced vault door" open with a sword, ran right by my three guards, down my elevators, and then began attacking in my kitchen.

Apart from my guards, no one had weapons -I didn't have enough people for a workshop and most of the starter cards I got were junk, resources that I had already capped, or caps... the guards didn't chase the raiders and I needed to try to click and drag each guard like 8 times before they moved to the kitchen.. by which time they had left for my power room.

So seriously... what is the point of the vault door if it doesn't keep enemies out?

And what is the point of guards if enemies can just a) ignore them and run past them, and b) won't chase after enemies that run past them?

Do Quests, get Caps, get Workshop. Intruders into your vault travel left to right, down, right to left, etc. Put your people with weapons in those rooms first.

That's not supposed to happen FYI. Raiders always stop inside the Vault Door room, and assuming you have rooms on the first level, they'll always go to those rooms after. They're not supposed to go down the elevator right away, even if it's the first thing after the Vault Door.

Send a couple dwellers into the wasteland and they will pick up weapons eventually. If you send them out without meds, they'll die in a few hours (assuming you don't recall them in time), but you can just revive them with caps. Equip most dwellers with weapons at the start, even if they're terrible. You don't want to waste time dragging dwellers into rooms every time something bad happens.

Also, it's really not worth upgrading the Vault Door. Late game, it gets frustrating because even Deathclaw attacks take a bit of time for them to break in, which only delays their otherwise quick death. (Early game does suck though, I had to make a 3rd save for whatever achievements I can't get on my Bethesda.net saves.)

not supposed to craft weapons first, supposed to explore for items/weapons, then explore and craft.

The vault room is useless, as it only holds 2 people for some stupid reason.

Make sure the first room next to the vault entrance is a 3-sized Power Room, equip the people there with the best weapons you have, and you should be fine.

If the raiders manage to leave the room, it's easier to not drag your dwellers and instead just move the weapons by removing them and resassigning them to the people in that other room. That also avoids the time that they'd usually need to travel around.

It's annoying because the controls are subpar (to nobody's surprise given that it's a mobile port), but you should get the hang of it after a few attempts.

so, personally, I have 2 rooms of "well armed" people, so when the enemies move to the next room, my first room just moves to the 3rd room, then 2nd to 4th and so forth.
