Preferred Elevator Placement? Molerat proofing vs any-incident-fighting
Molerats only spawn in rooms next to dirt (excluding the dirt at the top of the vault). So by placing elevators on all sides, and a wall of elevators at the bottom, a vault can be mole-proofed.

But doing this makes moving dwellers from one room to another a lot slower, which slows ability to respond to any other incident - fires, radroaches, radscorpions, whatever.

Do you prefer to place elevators centrally for faster dweller transiting, or on the sides for molerat proofing?

If you do molerat proofing, how do you handle incidents like fires, radroaches, radscorpions, deathclaws ***before*** you have loads of powered weapons and high-Endurance dwellers?

Would you do differently (moleproofing or not) in normal vs survival modes?

okay, I was trying hard to understand wat he was trying to do, and I even attempted to rephrase my question in a more clear manner, but if you want to construe me as being an elitist douche, that's fine with me.

Building tons of elevators gets really expensive. The less rooms / elevator you install, the harder it will be for you to expand, is all I'm saying. You can disagree with me nyao, but I'm pretty sure that over time, you'll come to the same conclusion.

After all's said and done, I'd personally just do it the lazy way and have 2* rooms with 0 empty spaces in my vault, with 4 dwellers on the bottom to block and not elevator off at all.

Hex grid pattern for my survival vault, specifically for empty rooms, so that the crisis can't spread. I leave the other rooms at level 1, so that my dwellers can deal with the threat directly. I've never had anyone die, though I've come close a few times due to carelessness, and it is very effective. Don't bother insulating with elevators. Efficiency and travel time greately help the vault in the long run, and the minor crisis won't matter if the vault is running smoothly.

To deal with outside threats, I have a large group of dwellers training at level 1 to keep the overall dweller level down.

I prefer for regular Vaults to have two running lines top and down for elevators. In the normal mode at least, mole rats pose little threat overall. Radscorpions are way worse and far as I know, nothing can fool-proof them. On an end-game vault, radscorpion attacks happen quite often back-to-back.

I am sure in Survival mode, you'd have to turtle the waiting process to acquire enough caps to mole-proof the Vault.
