And, consider to have a status display in the cargo room.
just a joke, maybe we get faster ships in the future which can use warp4 or higher.. or we get ships which can travel faster with warp 1-3..
in older versions a travel between planets had taken some hours.. so the devs had increased the speed already ;)

As Zorz has said there may be additional parts/ships we haven't seen that will allow faster travel.
To use a Will Ferrel created Bushism, the "strategery" of the situation allows travel time to become a good part of the strategy.
Still like to see some old school cabinet vid games obtainable as loot and placeable in the cargo bay, or CQM. :) The vid games would show the high scores on the server with the players name. Be a fun way to pass the time.
On my server, US West 2, Bethyr and Eridill are only starting to pull away from each other and the trip between them is at almost 20 minutes. That means a trip when they are on opposite sides of the star will be much longer.
That is dead time. It's not fun, engaging or meaningful enough to justify.
Now drop the 20 minutes to 5 minutes and there is still a noticeable gap, but it's not punitive. It doesn't prevent fun.
Games like Worlds Adrift, EVE and even old Everquest have had long travel times but they also had content from wherever You were all along the way to where you were going and still all added faster travel tools.
But of course that is a different game and you had things to do on long trips.
I'm sure ZGG will get it balanced out eventually.
All the developer has to do is add in a few server options which allow for certain things to be allowed.
Here are just two options (examples) which could be added to the Gameserver.ini file.
server_name=Too Old For This
description=My Personal Server
server_password=poop
game_client_port=5970
status_port=5969
max_players=30
save_interval=900
number_of_save_files=2
vessel_collision_damage_multiplier=0.3
-------------- Possible Additions ----------------
vessel_max_travel_time=5 (5 equals 5 minutes)
auto_docking=1 (1 equals on, 0 equals off. Server allows for auto docking, and used by old people like myself..hehehe)
so if u are able to be there after 2minutes again by respawn, than the game balance doesn't exist ^^
If the pirate kills me at my ship they have plenty of options to get the loot. They can hack the ship, warp it to wherever and loot at leisure, they can dock and drag to extend.
Even the absurdly low estimate of 2 minutes is plenty of time for an experienced looter to get a few trips in with loot.
That's a really silly objection.
