How do you host your server?

Hello,

Really new to the game, just bought it... I was wondering how you host your own server?

Just barely discovering the game, it seems quite complex and cool at the same time !

As far as i know we have to pay for the servers. Bounch of sites are hosting for like i think 10 or 20 a month.

There are guides around, but you can use steamcmd in windows to download the dedicated server app. If you're familiar with dedicated servers it's not difficult. If you're not, well it's not really turn key enough for a complete beginner yet.

You will have to open up your ports on the router for the status port and game port.

here's my update_server.bat :

@echo off
start "" steamcmd.exe +login anonymous +force_install_dir "G:\games\Hellion_Server" +app_update 598850 validate +quit


once you have the game files installed, in the server directory copy the GameServer.example to GameServer.ini and edit it to suit you.

my settings :

server_name=House Monkeypaw
description=House Monkeypaw Server
server_password=password
# game_client_port=
# status_port=
game_client_port=5969
status_port=5970
max_players=100
save_interval=900

I got this from another post, but you then run :
"HELLION_Dedicated.exe -scan"

which creates your Start_ALL.bat which is what you'll use to start the server.

Ah ! Dang it's not included right from the game...

But thank you for your explaination, I think I get, I never used steamcmd so that might be fun !

Hey man. We have a server you could come play on that's a hosted server. When we get more access to the set up of it we can add admins and we'll be looking for some. Those on the server that are very active will be the first picks! Not promising nothing, but the server does run the best that i've seen since i have played this game!
