Dealing with Turrets
Okay please someone tell me how to deal with turrets because right now, for me, turrets are just making exploration impossible and the game pretty much unplayable. I have played the start of the game 20 times.

I put my station together, I go out and scavenge a few spare parts, maybe mine a little and then at some point I want to explore and the first non-outpost station that I visit a turret kills me and I have to start all over from the beginning.

I never bother respawning because I find the 10 minute wait on an empty station for a new ship to show up totally unreasonable. 10 minutes of doing nothing in a game is way too long. I feel like I am back in the 90s waiting for the games on my Commodore 64 to load.

when dealing with turrets, set rifle to powershot, then takes about 4 shots to kill, have medkits handy aswell the more the better, try to stay out of the turrets line of sight, only move into line of sight to take a shot then get out of the line of sight again and use a med pack when needed,
Also if you come across an emp grenade they are handy too. good luck. its tricky for sure, i have died a few times myself, either take the assault approach or use side vents of modules to get past them.

Part of the issue right now seems to be weapon feedback is lacking/missing so it's hard to know for certain if you're hitting until you actually kill the damn things.

GuyC_UK is correct though, best bet seems to be powershot and trying to put yourself somewhere with a clear line of sight to some part of the turret where it can't get you.

For example, on the CBM you can hover outside the doors and peek the corners very slowly until you have a clear shot - just got to be careful you don't float into view.

This isn't always possible. Stimpaks help.

TBH I'm not convinced the premades are actually worth the risk on the current build, they don't seem to generate any specific loot or resources that aren't safer and easier to find in other places.

@GaGrin, there are ways to go about getting good enough loot without fighting the turrets, but after some practice, they're really not as tough as they seem. There's no rush to take them down in many cases so you can try a few angles, positions and see if you can find an advantage. Weapons have different distances too.
1 Base at Askatar, I think it is the Ice Refinery, has 12 turrets in that base! Good luck. :)

The turrets seem to have a perfect hitbox, so if even if you see a pixel of it you can shoot it and deal damage. Works well to shoot at its rotating barrel when it gets into view.

Thanks. This has all been useful.

also the easiest way to kill turrets is with another player, two direction assault, when turret turns to face first player the second player shoots at it, then when it turns to face the second player, the first player shoots n so on, taking turns at shooting.

I'm not having (much) trouble with the turrets myself, I just don't think the rewards are worth the risk at the moment. You kill half a dozen turrets, and find stuff you could find floating around in space without any risk of getting shot at.

But that's a loot problem, not a turret problem. I'm sure as more things go into the game, this will be addressed over time.

Haven’t had any issues with turret so far until yesterday. When I thought I was out the line of fire but suddenly the turret disappears but after view seconds I died. Think the turret was still shooting but I could see the turret.

Before that, no issues at all.

sometimes you die from bleeding. If a turret shot you there's a good chance you're wounded so it's smart to stim anyway. There's no indication of the bleeding afaik, other than sudden death 5-20 seconds after you are no longer beign shot at

Ramboing down seems like the best solution right now. And they are not a real enemy if a determined team try to raid you base.

normally you get a all grey screen and faded out from the borders. Stimpacks should be equipped if you storm some turrets.

general it a warning signd if your lost color.

And yes, the stations with turrets on are not worth the hassle. expect you wanted turrets for your base. ^^

Turret HP will get a buff soon, to make them more of a threat when raiding someone. AP grenades and EMP grenades remain the best option for dealing with them. AP grenade will atm instantly kill a turret (after HP buff it will drop turret HP to very low allowing you to take it out with a few shots). EMP grenade will completely disable a turret in its blast radius and also allow you to pick it up for yourself.

If the nade doesn't clip through the module. Or blast through the closed inside door, into the airlock of a ship killing both occupants, one at the AL panel, who were trying to neutralize the turret in the ship. Killed us but did nothing to the turret. Have had little to no luck using nades against turrets. With their capacity to clip through walls, and lack of control of the throw force they are hard to use.

plus

we can talk about the EMP grenade that goes 2 meters away from you with a radius of a chicken ... what a joke this grenade

When it works it's pretty nice. EA

They seem to work best when you just want to see a few fire works in space.
