Check out this webcam and tell me if the planes stop after landing in real life the same way as they do in this sim (I'll give you a hint - they don't). Listening to liveatc.net at the same time is even better.
This is a simple fix. The programmers have it coded that once the reach the end of that transition, they request their path (either based on own nav or with directions). It could easily be switched so that the pathfinding call happens when a) they have chosen their exit, and b) they have received some version of "taxi to ramp". If both are true, look up a path.
