Planes allways stop after exiting runway?
When an airplane land, they go for the first possible exit. If I give the "taxi to terminal via..." while they are still on the runway or just entered their exitpoint, why do they still stop at the exit, short of the taxiway, before starting rolling towards their terminal again? It would make more sense if they just kept rolling all the time from runway to terminal...

Is there a vociecommand to counter this or is this just how it have to be?

I´ve talked to my brother in law yesterday who is a commercial pilot, he says most often they keep rolling and sometimes they stop, depending on the orders from ATC.

The game must calculate the route from the exit point to the terminal, including any special via instructions you give. Why it doesn’t do this during roll out is beyond me, but it does it after the plane has stopped clear of the runway. In less complicated airports or where the trip is short it can be almost immediate. At airports where there are significant numbers of taxi ways and gates it can take while. If your via commands confuse the system or create a huge convoluted route (not through any fault of your own, sometimes the most direct seeming route will send the plane all over the damn airport) the plane will sit and sit and sit while it tries to figure it out. Sometimes it never does. The biggest offender is JFK.

Planes stop on the taxi after landing to be handed over to ground for taxing to terminal instructions......... you should try listening to them on liveatc.net

Check out this webcam and tell me if the planes stop after landing in real life the same way as they do in this sim (I'll give you a hint - they don't). Listening to liveatc.net at the same time is even better.

Yeah, the whole "they stop to be handed off" bit is silly. I fly >90 flights a year and have pretty much never stopped on the high speed turnout.

This is a simple fix. The programmers have it coded that once the reach the end of that transition, they request their path (either based on own nav or with directions). It could easily be switched so that the pathfinding call happens when a) they have chosen their exit, and b) they have received some version of "taxi to ramp". If both are true, look up a path.

Thank you, we will add this to the wishlist for the next version of Tower!3DXX.
