Demo version?

I think I would like this game, but at the same time 30 quid seems like a pretty steep gamble, and I would rather not use steam refunds to, well, demo games I'm unsure about (steam frowns upon it). So would it be possible to release a demo version? Something very limited, so we can give the game a go?

Thanks for an answer, but I will pass. The idea to buy an older game in lieu of a demo is rather bizzare to me.
