Price of sand and oil
Playing for 680 hours now and only noticed today that the price of the sand is pretty high: $2.67 per unit. Don't know how much one unit of sand weighes...

Oil is just about 70 cents more expensive.

The price of sand and oil is like that because of game play reasons, with some lore that the Derail Valley economy crashed (canon: https://youtu.be/wNqlDJ62paw?si=aPbuYxDCbDZI8aTO&t=291) with the crash likely caused by Yugoslavia breakup
Considering the steam locos don't use alot of oil it works out cheaper than running the diesels.
Sand.. no idea why that's so expensive, not like there's a shortage of it lol.
Bare in mind the prices are not really supposed to be realistic - its more about game balance then anything else.

I needed a lot of sand for my own DE6 and my slug. After filling the slug with sand I saw I had to pay over 2000 dollar. That seemed to be a lot for some sand, that’s why I checked the price.
Some locos IRL can hold an impressive amount of sand, since it might get used a lot.
It also has to be very dry else it can clog the tubes, so not quite any old sand will do.
