Oil Refinery Oil Dispenser
First, let me offer my sincere complements to whomever on the development team designed the Oil Refinery. This place is magnificent, with the process piping and the stacks and the interwoven trackage. Not to mention the amazing night lighting.

What perplexes me is the lack of an oil dispenser adjacent to the fuel dispenser. I mean, it's an oil refinery - shouldn't it have an oil dispenser? The reason the lack is a problem is that these locomotives have small oil tanks that are often depleted long before the fuel.

Also i've ran a quick test, and DE2 would need to idle for more than 3.5 hours, real time, to burn that much oil, and it would still burn twice the fuel you were missing in that screenshot. So as far as i can see the only way to get that situation is refilling fuel at some point without filling oil or significant engine damage (maybe?).

Well....funny story. You mentioning that refilling fuel without refilling oil reminded me - that's what I did in that screenshot. I took that screenshot at the oil refinery a little while after refueling (but not re-oiling, since no oil dispenser is available.)

So, yeah, that example screenshot is particularly egregious - it's not usually that bad (I'll go back and edit that posting so future generations don't get confused.) Nevertheless, I do consistently run out of oil first - usually with between 1/2 and 1/4 tank of fuel remaining.

I suspect part of my own personal problem is that lately, out of laziness, I leave the locomotive idling unnecessarily while I run around doing who knows what. For the new year, I resolve to idle less. After all, a startup on a DE2 only incurs around $180 (manual service). I can afford it.

I also let the engine idle at times, mostly because the remote can't start or stop the engine.

Ohh so thats whats up. Wasnt aware there is only fueling without repair at Oil Refinery. All makes sense now, its definitely an issue... but i'd guess its like that by design, to add ways to fail, or to get pack on the back from planning department. Same deal with Sawmill and Iron Mines not having diesel but having oil. Afterall the game has one of the fail states as its name :).

But sorry about the lengthy confusion earlier, i haven't noticed fuel hose without repair being a thing in the game now since B99.

Regarding sawmill - I'm on board with not having combustibles at a sawmill, but I've always felt they should remove the oil dispenser too.

I guess oil isn't as volatile as fuel, but still.

Ling is right that the lack of an oil dispenser at the refinery is another game failure mechanism, which I generally support.

Maybe they should remove the fuel dispenser too? My point is that the fuel dispenser isn't doing us that much good without an oil dispenser to go along with it.

I like the fact that ressources are not available on every location.

Whats missing that the player can buy a service vehicle / cars and take a small tankcar to the location.

We're talking about Diesel fuel, which isn't that volatile either.
