I caused a boiler explosion in front of a water tower. How have you messed up?
I should have canceled this job because it started off on the wrong foot, but I pressed on anyway.

I was at the Goods Factory and I took a job to Forest South, and what I thought was a job to Steel Mill along the way. Clever double dipping, right? I hadn't quite left the Goods factory with both consists in tow when I realized that I picked up a job to Harbor instead of Steel Mill; oh well, I can make it, right?

I declined to pick up water at the Steel Mill in favor of pressing on, thinking I hadn't refilled all that long ago, but with the fact that I was pulling 600T in the S060 caused me to use a lot more water than normal, especially chugging up a few hills. I ran out of water south of the Steel Mill, heading east towards the Harbor. I damped the fire as best as I could, eventually putting it out once the water disappeared from the glass and managed to coast down the hill all the way to the Harbor and right up to the water tower.

I filled the tank and thought myself rather clever.

Then I lit the fire and stoked the hell out of it to get the boiler pressure back up as I was refilling it with water. It exploded a minute or so later.

I was so proud of myself for salvaging that, only to screw it up royally in front of the water tower with a full load of water, of all places. It's both hilarious and embarassing.

What's your most famous screw up?

Recently had what was probably my worst accident. Misaligned switch threw a DE2 and several autoracks into the end of the turntable at Food Factory at 40 KM/H

Was trying to pull a u turn in CMS on the giant loop track, didn't notice the massive train blocking the crossing.

started game. Installed dv utils, ran the 282 as my first trip. Made it, flying colours. turned around went back... forgot mf to csw is downhill.. the wreck was spectacular :p

double tender with the 060. was switching forgot about the tender... loco down one set, tender down the other...10/10
Was coming down from CME in the S282 with 900 tons of coal.
I forgot about the brake cutout.
100km/h around a 50 turn, right into a ditch.

Smacked a DE2 with the turntable's handle, full HP to 0.

About two months ago, I forgot to re-set the switches at OWC. I drove an S282 right into the back of an oil train at that station at 40 km/h in a realistic save. There wasn't much O at OWC anymore, and the S282 was no more, as well.

Yeah, I ended that run.

the first and (so far) only time i've crashed a train is when i sent a DE2 into the muesem buffers (they are there before you get the licence) and smashed into them at ~30KM/H which totaled the train.. i reloaded a save before that, and set the switched properly. after that i then derailed in a tunnel further west, but i rerailed it instead of loading a save

Came into the oil well a little hot but I double-checked all the switches were set--or so I thought. Headed straight into a line of parked tankers. Panicked and somehow smashed the throttle open instead of the brake. The good news is, less than a minute later there were no more filled oil tankers to worry about.

At my first run with the de6 i had trouble with the clickboxes to find them.

I ran a military train worth 350k contract value. Luckily carried the ammo and helicopters on the backside, the less valueable trucks behind the shunter. The consist was pulled by a de6.
It became busy going downhill since i wasnt used to the handling and bad visibility. I wanted to activate dynamic brakes and got the throttle full speed while having confused the clickboxes.
At the upcoming y crossing the train went straignt into the field. 4 wagons derailed and the shunter was scrap.
Carefully rerailed every wagon, so the contracts werent even penalized. "No damage on the load lol".

Second screwup was the freshly restored & painted de6 hauling into the turntable with the microshunter. I thought it might work out doing with loose shunt. (No connected air pipes and vented loco). My microshunter was pushed out of the turntable like a toy lol.

At OWC, I saw a switch wasn't set to go through the yard in the S282. I switched the track too late, and my engine drifted into on oil train, which took the O out of OWC. The steam engine was destroyed.

I put together 3 jobs at the harbor to CW and MF, 2 oil trains and one with containers, for a total of 1300 tons. I pulled it out with the S282. I used the new track that was added near CW, and despite my attempts to slow down I arrived to the switch at 60 (max allowed speed is 30).
7 oil cars and 5 containers derailed along with the locomotive.
Turns out I forgot to open the angle ♥♥♥♥♥, and from the 20 car consist only the first 7 were connected to the engine.
Total damages were over 500k.
