Derail Valley

Suggestion: Car Mover
A tool to, well, move cars. This would probably be the most useful when you need to move something like one car to get out of the way and moving large engines out of the roundhouse without starting them.

You can move the one car with train you used to haul cargo into the station or take the shunter. When you have manual repair licence you are going to visit the repair garage quite often - sometimes it is standalone sometimes it is in the roundhouse. I dont see any issue with this. Some shunters at some stations are accessible pretty fast.
Makes sense. The DE6 or S282 probably couldn't be moved on a turntable with a shunter due to the size, so I guess that's one of the few downsides, which is a sacrifice worth taking considering the tractive effort of those engines.

Yes that is correct. I dont think there are different sized turntables. DE6 is very long and you cant fit here other locos on that turntable. It is really not a big deal you can just go past the tunrtable and turn it off and then use shunter to move it. I do it all the time to save some running cost because the DE6 is expensive to run :) I usually bring the DE6 in then do heavy shunting - usually the same set of cars I brought in. I unload it then I drive the DE6 away so it wont block the rails I need to use and turn it off. Then using only DE2 or DM3 or DH4 to do shunting and puting together new set of train cars for another trip then I bring the DE6 in front if possible with shunter if not on its own. I willl drive the shunter back to roundhouse/garage and repair it and I'm ready to roll with de6 with all cars conencted so I can start it and drive next cargo haul.

This will turn gameplay into walking simulator instead of puzzle.
Then why not to remove all blocking cars at all, and set the train ready to go automatically right at accepting the job.
There is such game Train Sim World. Do you want this game to be the same?

Both DE6 an S282 can be moved on a turntable with BE2 microshunter - this is its primary purpose.

This is not without merit. Specifically, a small handheld tool that allows one to roll a car a short distance, slowly. I believe such a thing exists in reality.

Often I've walked down a long train to a coupling point only to discover I'm 2 inches too far to be able to couple. Talk about a walking simulator!

We have that. It's called BE2.

I could see the benefit of having some ability to "shove" like you can do with the turntable, but from what I've seen that would be far from realistic.

I wouldn't have thought there was such a thing but a quick google search shows otherwise

A metal pole and a wheel chock on a stick also suffices
If you haven't bled the air from the cars tanks, release the handbrake and use the handcar till you find the mini shunter. After that, just use it.
