Derail Valley

Derail Valley

Question: Will we ever get a "Monkey Tail" *hopefully spelled right*
You can attach it to the anglecock on the rear most car, and would allow players to see the brake pipe pressure on the end of the train, works like the gauge in the caboose. Would to be cool to have :)

More Commonly known as An EOT or EOTD, End of Train Device. I can't remember specifically if it will make an appearance, but I do know there are upgrades planned for the trains in game. Though I will say never ever, have I ever heard the term "Monkey Tail", guess you learn something new everyday. (Edit: Monkey Tail must be a regional thing, or slang that wasn't commonly used. because I could not find anything on the term from a quick google search.)

I've seen em' used on cabooses that lack a built-in brake pressure gauge. *shrug* I think they ARE different from EOTD, or FRED, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong

Did a search for the monkey tail here is what I found

I found this, hopefully this gives ya an idea of what I am referencing. It's the small pipe that attaches to the anglecock, and wraps up and hooks onto the ladder http://c-sng-discussion-forum.254.s1.nabble.com/Making-Monkey-Tails-in-C-amp-Sn3-td18777.html

I've seen some of them have a gauge on them to read the brake pipe pressure

I'm not aware of another name for these things, so if there is one, grand

That really goes back some years even before I was a thing. You may find that popup as an update in Railroader, well more likely that is, than in Derail Valley, with only two steam locos, unless they have a plan to add more and keeping hush-hush. But ya never know.

Fair point, but it would just be neat to see. Maybe for when official passenger jobs comes around *shrug*

I think there is a pressure gauge in the caboose, so if you connect it to the rear it can be used in the same way?
Anyway since we are only one person in derail valley in my eyes only a more modern device that transmits the value somehow back to the locomotive would make sense since the engineer would not leave the position in the locomotive at the front of the train.

That is true, and you make a valid point. I just think it would be cool to see for little historical things.
