Derail Valley

Will we get new Maps one day?
As in, new Maps with different Scenarios? I really would love to have Maps that mimic the Desert, Africa or Australia.
Vast, Huge Maps. Sometimes empty, sometimes not. I would also love to see if they offered Tracks that are more like Real Life in these cases as in, if we are in the Desert than the Track is mostly flat and quite straight , meaning.. we push the Throttle Lever forward and then Chill and enjoy the beautiful view of the big Sandbox, like no really. The Desert is a huge Sandbox.
Maybe a European/German Map with a LOT "Towns" and "Villages" resulting in a lot of Human Traffic instead of right now exclusive Cargo traffic?

So many possibilities. :D

Or, even better.. MODDING :D
Let People create cool new Maps. :)

There already is a tool for that actually called Mapify I think was it. I just can't remember if it's working for the latest version of DV

dayum.
But since there aint a Workshop Tab for DV, where does one Download the Maps, given there are any available? And how do i choose which Map i wanna play?

DV really needs some cool modding Tools. That way People wouldnt be so bothered if Updates take a tad longer than expected, because People have enough to do.

Rimworld for example, i always have to skip one AddOn release due to the Amount of Mods People create and me wanna finishing my Playthrough, but it takes Ages. But its time well spent. :)

This is why i think that DV would also hugely benefit from proper Mod Tools and ofcourse proper implementation of Modding into the Game. :)

You get most Mods from Nexus since Steam Workshop isn't implemented yet.
You get more infos on the Official Derail Valley Discord

On the official side, maps are planned as DLC, starting with a US-inspired one. It'll be more open but not physically larger. You can see the devs plans in the link on the pinned discussion here

Mod maps and mod locomotives would be nice, but currently i only know of custom skins. These are really nice though and a lot of them are really good.

The Mod for the Locomotives is currently broken while there already is a Mod for Map Making
