SteamVR crashing on 99?
Has anyone else experienced immediate crashing in derail once it loads using steamVR? Done the usual verify but everything seems to be there.

I played 12 hours of it yesterday and had no issue at 50fps.
When was the last time you checked your drivers?

Couple of months I reckon. Managed to get it going when forcing it to OpenXR but every 15 min or so it super lags and feels like its about to crash. If i quick press for menu seems to come back. Bit weird. though i am still playing on the Quest 1

No issues here; utilizing a Quest 2 through Link Cable and on an AMD 7900 GPU.

I'd recommend trying to update your driver and restarting the computer as a basic troubleshooting, then see from there

Same for me, crash after loading the save via SteamVR and SteamLink (error -203). When I use Airlink, the game does work.

Played about 20 hours on SteamVR + Virtual Desktop over wifi since B99 released.

I also tried steam link and got into the game as well. Mostly just to try steam link since I have been hearing about it, and had not tried it before. I think steam link worked pretty much like virtual desktop, but I have not tested it much more than about 5 minutes.;

I was going through Virtual Desktop + SteamVR (as openXR). Did you have any issues with lag or crashes? Also when you say steam link do you mean like the big picture one? How does that work with the occulas headset?

I actually do Virtual Desktop + SteamVR (as SteamVR), haven't tried the other API. Since Derail Valley supports steam vr I just stuck with steam vr.

Steam link is a "newish" app that steam created about 8-9 months ago to support SteamVr on quest. Steam link is a free application that you download from the meta quest store:

Actually, I use "Automatic" for the XR runtime in virtual desktop, I assume the game is using SteamVR though because I think Derail Valley only supports the SteamVR API and the Oculus API, which I think is different the the other "open" API supported by Virtual Desktop, but since I use Automatic, I cannot be sure.

As for Steam link - I have only used it for 5 minutes, it worked for those 5 minutes but since Virtual Desktop works over wifi for Derail Valley, I haven't spent any time testing it.
BTW, I think you have to configure steam for remote connections, basically steam becomes the remote streamer app versus the streamer app that virtual desktop provides.

I do use the oculus API when playing ATS/ETS2, but I play those over a link cable since I am sitting at a desk and don't swivel around like I do when playing derail valley - where I put my office chair more in the middle of the room so I can turn by turning my chair instead of just using a joystick.

Thanks mate, i'll give that a shot and see if it resolves the lag issues
