customized train

It's a very nice idea for the game, but what's happening to the train we modify? In the past the train we used despawn from the map? So what's the mechanic now?

It was explained in the Video.
All Customizations you do on a "Rented" Loco, disappear with it.
Only the Locos you own, the Museum Locos, won't disappear.

Also anything lost when a train despawns will just go to the tool shed (previously called the lost and found)
And work trains like the BE2 and Caboose also never despawn

AIFAIK they don't

"If the locomotive despawns, the gadgets from it will go to lost & found".
