Electric locomotives planned?

I was looking through the keybinds and noticed there was a "Pantograph" keykind, could this mean that electric locomotives are planned to be added at some point?

Yes, check the "Future Plans" pinned post, it will link you to the dev's roadmap, at least one E6 locomotive is planned for future free content atm.

I was about to say bro was in dreamland LOL, MAYBE next year IF we are lucky, but my personal speculation would be like Q4 2024-Q2 2025. Foundation Part 4 is a massive update as well and probably will be on par with the size of simulator. Who knows, maybe i'm wrong, it could be entirely possible that it could come out earlier in 2024 due to the fact that MAYBE simulator only took as long because of the massive rewrite of the games code they had to do, and FP4 may not need such a rewrite, making the development time much faster in comparison, but that is all speculation.

Your pretty much right. We will see parts of foundation 4 this year and next year, but finished it will be at the earlies Q4 2024. And since the E4 requires a rebuild map with electrification its far away, but the devs already stated that they have a team working on FP4 stuff for a long while now, so maybe we see some of it earlier than what we expect.

I think it would be cool for only specific lines in the valley being electrified (maybe ones that go far out of the way ie: south out of the harbor) just so there is a bit of strategy in terms of when to take out the electric locomotive.

It would only make sense to electrify the main line, not the lines no one needs/uses. So if partially then i would electrify the main line out west from harbor to sm, then the whole circlte sm-ff-mf-csw-sm. But the map would need to make clear where you have juice otherwise we see some stranded E locomotives.
