For new players that rely on the guide to operate new engine, they usually find the new engine in the shed behind a turntable, and it's usually not aligned with the turntable
If you follow the guide to operate the engine, you won't have enough room to maneuver due to the very short rail in shed
If you take the engine out of the shed and turntable onto the mainline for larger space, then you already know how to operate the engine and the tutorial is useless
If you try to align the turntable and run the engine at the same time, it's very easy to break the tutorial because you need to leave the engine to operate the turntable
I found the constant interruptions and big view-blocking panes REALLY annoying. Playing in VR by the way, maybe it's better in pancake mode?
I hope they eventually go back to the book style tutorial like Overhauled had
I also really hate having to toggle the alt key all the time, wasn't it different before?
Losing the ingame manual booklets kinda sucks and is a part of what really sucks, which is the increasing intrusion of UI elements where there never used to be any, and doesn't really need to be any. Yes there's much more information in the new paused manual, but it's in the pause menu. I only want to go there to save and quit, or adjust settings, not find content.
I've written more extensive explanations in the past, but in a nutshell, the paper booklets were retired as they are not sustainable (both in terms of creation and performance) with the amount of content coming to the game in the future.
With the improved quick tutorials this will no longer be an issue.
